A E (SAM) WILGOCKI

Funeral services were held Sunday, August 10 at 2:30 p.m. at the Methodist Church in Elgin for A E (Sam) WILGOCKI of Elgin who was killed Friday, August 8, 1969, when a tractor he was operating upset pinning him underneath it. The accident occurred about 11:45 a. m., six miles south, one mile east and a quarter mile south of Neligh. WILGOCKI was using the tractor with a dirt scoop to fill a mud hole at a gate when the tractor apparently slipped. He was discovered by a passerby who went to the Ralph PELSTER residence, where the fire department, a wrecker and the Elgin ambulance were summoned to free him. The Rev. George SWINEY of Columbus and the Rev. Connie BUEHLER of Elgin officiated at the service and burial was in the Oakdale Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers were Duane BLY, Walter KLOEPPER, Stanley WILKINSON, Duane DINSLAGE, Carl TUCKER, and Clyde JENSKINSON. A. E. (Sam) WILGOCKI, son of Henry and Yvonne TOTTEN WILGOCKI, was born November 19, 1933 at a farm home near Elgin. He received hi education in the rural Cedar Creek school and attended high school at the Elgin Public School. On May 23, 1954 he was married to June ARMSTRONG and to this union two sons were born. They made their home on a farm east of Elgin until 1960 when they moved to a farm northeast of Elgin. He is survived by his wife, June, two sons, Terry and Jerry, parents, Mr and Mrs Henry WILGOCKI, grandparents, Mr and Mrs Will TOTTEN, several nieces and nephews and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his sister, Ruth.

ARMIN F WILGOCKI

Funeral services were held Tuesday, May 12 at 2 p.m. at the Hoepfinger Home for Funerals for Armin F WILGOCKI of Elgin with the Rev. Lester ANDERSON, former pastor of the Elgin Methodist Church, officiating. Interment was in the Oakdale Cemetery with Charles ROUSE, Elmer WELLBURN, Reuben SWANSON, Harold RICE, Rober SCHRAGE, and Frank LIEBEL serving as pallbearers. Armin F WILGOCKI, son of the late Henry and Mary FISCHER WILGOCKI, was born on a farm east of Neligh September 14, 1900 and died at the Tilden Community Hospital May 10, 1964 at the age of 63 years, 7 months and 26 days. When he was four years old his parents moved to the Cedar Creek community and he lived in that community his entire life. On September 19, 1925 he was married to Gladys Lewis of Neligh. They had resided at their present home all of their married life. Mr WILGOCKI was a member of Antelope Lodge No. 276 A F and A M. He was widely known throughout the County through his baseball career and business interests. Survivors include his wife, Gladys, two sisters, Mrs Ruth ARMSTRONG, New Plymouth, Idaho and Dorritt of Seattle, Washington, one brother, Henry of Elgin, several nieces and nephews.

Gladys M (LEWIS) WILGOCKI

Abridged: Funeral services will be held for Gladys M Wilgocki on Thursday at Huffman’s Brooks Chapel in Elgin. Burial will be in the Oakdale Cemetery. Gladys Mae Lewis, daughter of Walter and Ota Cratty Lewis, was born April 3, 1903 at Elgin. She grew up on her parents’ farm northwest of Elgin, attended rural schools and graduated from Neligh High School in 1923. On September 19, 1925 she married Armin F Wilgocki of Elgin. The couple farmed all of their married life in the Cedar Creek community east of Elgin. After the death of husband in May, 1964, Mrs Wilgocki continued to live on the farm. Since 1992 she had resided at the Tilden Community Hospital, the Tilden Nursing Center and since 1996 at the Neligh Nursing Center. Preceding her in death were her parents, husband, four brothers, Reuben Lewis, Baxter Lewis, Floyd Lewis and Richard Lewis and a sister, Frances McKillip. Survivors include a sister, Mrs Jack (Bonnelle) Millenbah of Merrill, WI and a number of nieces and nephews.

HENRY WILGOCKI

Abridged: Henry WILGOCKI, son of Armin F WILGOCKI and Nancy WILGOCKI, was born in Sioux City, Iowa, April 23, 1871, and passed away at his home in Oakdale, Nebraska, April 15, 1936. His father was a civil engineer employed in the construction of the Union Pacific Railroad and in 1873 the family moved to Grand Island. They moved to Neligh in 1878. Henry was able to ride the first Chicago and Northwestern train in this area. He secured his education in the Neligh schools and attended Gates College in Neligh. On March 24, 1893 he married Miss Mary FISHER of Eastman, Wisconsin, who together with two sons, Armin and Henry Jr of Oakdale, and two daughters, Mrs Dorritt HEINTZ of Oakdale and Mrs Ruth FEE of Elgin survive him. He is also survived by a brother, Oscar Harte WILGOCKI of Anacortes, Washington and three grandchildren. He was a member of the Modern Woodmen of American and Masonic Lodge. Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon and burial was made in the Oakdale Cemetery.

HENRY J. WILGOCKI

Funeral service were conducted Thursday, August 19, at the Elgin United Methodist Church for Henry J. Wilgocki, 75, of rural Elgin. He died Monday, August 16, 1982, in a tractor accident on his farm. The Rev. Rose RICHARDSON officiated the funeral service. Music was provided by Mrs Brian CHRISTIANSEN, soloist, and Mrs Henry SCHUETHS, organist. Henry J (Babe) WILGOCKI was born February 5, 1907 to Henry and Mary (FISHER) WILGOCKI on his parents’ farm five miles east and 3/4 mile north of Elgin. He lived on the same farm all of his life, attended the District 1 Rural School and graduated from Oakdale High School. On May 19, 1928 he was married to Yvonne TOTTEN at Oakdale. Mr WILGOCKI worked at the ASCS office, farmed and had operated the Wilgocki Insurance Agency for 45 years. He had also served on the District 1 School Board and Oakdale Cemetery Board. Survivors include his wife, one sister, Ruth ARMSTRONG of Neligh, four grandchildren, five great grandchildren, a daughter-in-law, June WILGOCKI and one niece. He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Armin (Sam) WILGOCKI, one daughter, Ruth HANKLA, one grandchild, one brother and one sister. Interment was in the Oakdale Cemetery with Jim TOTTEN, David TOTTEN, Bob TOTTEN, Bill BAILEY, Ronald JOHNSON, and Brian MACK serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers were Orville SHERMAN, Bill MILLER, Maurice JOHNSON, Leonard SCHMITZ, John SIMMONS, Walt KLOEPPER, Alfred BEELART, Ralph KINNAN, and Frank DINSLAGE.

Mary (FISHER) WILGOCKI

Abridged: Funeral services were conducted Tuesday at the Oakdale Methodist Church for Mary Wilgocki. Interment was made in the Oakdale Cemetery. Mary Fisher, daughter of Mr and Mrs Edmund Fisher, was born March 5, 1870 at Eastman, WI. She died at Tilden July 6, 1957. She came to Pierce County as a young woman and taught school there several years. She was married to Henry Wilgocki at Pierce on March 24, 1893. Four children were born to them. They farmed in Pierce County, then in the Cedar Creek community south of Oakdale. They retired from the farm in 1928 and moved to Oakdale. Mr Wilgocki died in 1936. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She is survived by two daughters, Mrs Dorrittt Heintz of Tacoma, WA and Mrs Vic Fee of Elgin, two sons, Armin and Henry of Elgin, two grandchildren, four great grandchildren, one sister, Mrs Birdie Edgar of Chicago and three brothers, William, Arthur and Thomas Fisher, all of Eastman, WI.


 

Obituary-The Oakdale Sentinel-April 12, 1928

NANCY OLIVEA FISHER WILGOCKI

Abridged: Nancy Olivea, one of nine children, was born in Conewango, NY, November 19, 1845, and died in Oakdale, Nebraska, Friday, April 6, 1928 in the 83rd year of her age. She came to Nebraska in 1856 where she was married to Armin WILGOCKI July 31, 1869. Of this union there were born three children, Henry of Oakdale, Oscar of Washington, and one dying in infancy. In 1878 they came to Antelope County locating in Neligh. Mr WILGOCKI was a civil engineer and she operated a restaurant and boarding house. In 1886 they moved to Pierce County for several years and then returned to a farm just north of Oakdale. Mr WILGOCKI died in 1899 and in 1905 she sold the farm and moved into Oakdale where she lived until death. Funeral services were conducted in the Oakdale Methodist Church on Sunday, April 8, and burial was made in the Oakdale Cemetery.
