Ed Hurner shipped cattle to Omaha one day last week. ... Born to Mr. and Mrs Maynard Watts, Friday, January 22, 1932, a daughter. ... Mrs. N. C. Hollingshead is entertaining the Bridge Club at her home this Thursday afternoon. ... Thos. Gleason came up from Omaha and visited with homefolks over Sunday. ... Mr. E. L. Knight and daughter, Betty, spent Sunday with friends in Omaha. ... Miss Marion Hoare and Miss Lois Lightner were guests of Miss Gwendolyn Kelly over the week end at Central City. ... Mr. and Mrs. Harry Farrar of Newman Grove were visitors here Sunday. Their daughter Mrs. D.H. Ziegler, accompanied them home for a few days visit. ... Mrs. Anna Hoare and son, Alvin, went to Norfolk Saturday evening and were guests of Mr. ad Mrs. Ed Hoare. They returned home Sunday evening. ... Miss Mollie Henderson and children came up from Lincoln Saturday eveing and will make their home for the present with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Conrad Harding. ... Miss Carol Hill came home from Lincoln last Thrusday to attend the funeral of her cousin Geraldine Hill. She plans to remain here for several days to rest up, having just recovered from a slight attack of pneumonia. ... Mrs. M. W. McNealy returned home Tuesday from a visit with relatives at Elkhorn, Nebr. ... Mrs. Paul Rupp returned home Tuesday from a visit with relatives at Fullerton. ... Mrs. Wm. Reese went to Grand Prairie Tuesday for a visit at the home of her sister. ... Darold Roach is on the sick list this week. ... Mr. and Mrs. B. J. Baker accompanied their son and his friend to Grand Island Monday. ... Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Watts of Columbus were visitors at the Walter Schmidt home Sunday. ... Mr. and Mrs. Robert Stillinger were pleasantly surprised Saturday evening with a number of neighbors and friends came in to spend the evening. Mr. and Mrs. Stillinger are planning to move to a farm east of Monroe in the near future.

Ed Hoare has been busy redecorating and rearranging his office at the Farmers elevator. ... Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Funkhouser and family of Shelby were Sunday dinner guests at the John Ditter home. Mr. John Cherry recevied word of the sudden death of his brother at Stuart, Nebr., Friday. Mr. Cherry together with his son, Charles, and daughter, Mrs. C.A. Stewart, departed Saturday to attend the funeral which was held at Stuart Sunday. They returned home Monday. ... Mr. and Mrs. Fred Baker of Archer, Nebr., were visitors at the N.C. Hollingshead home Sunday. Miss Corinne Hollingshead accompanied them home for a several days stay. Mr. Baker is a brother of Mrs. Hollingshead. ... Mrs. Frank Gilmore and Mrs. Warren Carter of Columbus were visitors here Saturday afternoon. ... Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Anderson, Mrs Elvin Hill and Miss Lucille Hill were visitors in Norfolk Saturday. ... Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Hawkes visited with her parents at Council Bluffs over Easter. ... Mrs. Ralph Wise and children visited in Central City from Saturday morning to Monday. ... Mr. and Mrs. Wm. H. Kotas and daughter visited with relatives at Milligan, Nebr., over Easter. ... Miss Eunice Garvey of Rushville, Neb., and Wm. Bitter of Eagle, Neb., were guests Sunday at the John Ditter Sr. home. ... Yes, spring is evidently here. Ed Hoare, the writer and some of the other kids were out flying a kite this afternoon. .... Alex Laudenklos underwent a sinus operation at the Columbus hospital the last of the week and is reported getting along nicely. ... Much damage to the winter wheat in this locality is reported. Evidently the freeze following the melting of the heavy snow caused the damage. ... Mrs. Anna Hoare has leased her elevator property to the Monroe Farmers' Association and it will be run in connection with their business as a storage elevator. ...
