And they have divided said land and real estate among themselves so that each can hold their part or share of said land in severalty. Now this indenture witnesseth that the said parties of the first part for, and in consideration of the said Rebecca Smith, releasing to each one of them their part or share of said land and real estate and also for and in consideration for the sum of $1.00 to them in hand paid by the said Rebecca Smith at and before the sealing and delivery of those present the receipt whereby is here acknowledged and the said parties of the first part are herewith fully satisfied, contented, and paid, hath given, granted, bargained, and sold, released, and quitclaimed the parcel of land now described.

0.75 acre of land in Randolph, Mt. Freedom section, for $1.00

NOTE: The land was given for the purpose of building the Methodist Episcopal Church in the area of the Sussex Turnpike in Mt. Freedom. The present church, built in 1893, stands on land sold to the Church Trustees in 1873 by Phillip and Nancy Till. Across the street is the original church site and the oldest part of the cemetery. There are only a handful of tombstones left in this section, two of which are for Joseph and Anna (Till) McCord. Phillip and Anna Till, as well as other members of the Till family, are buried in the newer section.

1848, March 2 "Philip Till, for $56 cash and $37.75 in work, will build a stone wall around grounds of large flat stone and all to be laid in lime and sand and sand mortar and four feet high and well pointed with the same – and said Till further agrees to make and put up the Gates to said yard in a Good and workman like manner of white oak timber and Paint the same and put on said Gates and Lock and Key.

Upon his death, his estate was declared insolvent and his wife, Julia, was ordered by the courts to auction off the land in order to pay creditors. In compliance with the court order, she advertised the auction for four weeks in the "The Jerseyman", a local newspaper. Phillip bid on the land and was successful.

NOTE: The above two title transfers were the first in a series over the following years involving land transfers from Phillip and Nancy Till to another person and then from that person to Nancy only. After the death of Anna Till (age 66) on May 30, 1867, Phillip (age 73) married Nancy (age 49) on September 19, 1868. Reasons for the unusual transfers were never discovered. Normally, transfers between spouses or other family members were made directly and usually for $1.00. Also listed below are land transfers directly to Nancy and not jointly to her and Phillip. This too was unusual during the period since most transfers listed only a male as the Grantee. (The Nancy Till mentioned here is not the same Nancy Till excluded from the Mt. Freedom Baptist Church on September 25, 1825.)
