Hannah Elizabeth Burdess, born in Steubenville, Ohio on March 2, 1882. She was the daughter of Thomas Burdess & Elizabeth "Bessie" (Allison) Burdess, who emigrated from County Durham, England to America around 1882. They settled shortly in Steubenville where Hannah was born. Hannah was the only American born child Thomas and Elizabeth had. Sometime before 1900, the Burdess family left Steubenville and settled in Preston County, WV.
