The Social Security System has made available an index of everyone who has been reported deceased that has applied for a Social Security card. These are a wonderful source of information. There are a number of sites that offer the Index, some with more information than others. I prefer the SSDI at Rootsweb for it's search engine but then use the social security number to find the record at LDS' Family Search.
The Texas and California Death Indexes are also a great source of information. Many former Muskingum residents can be found in these databases.
