02 September 1778_(Deed)_William RICHARDSON of the Parish of St. Mark's, State of SC, planter, to Gabriel GERALD, of sd. Parish and State, planter, the following described tract of land: "A certain plantation or tract containing 300 acres situate lying on Sammy Swamp, a branch of Black River in Craven Co., bounding N on land granted and NW on Joseph CORBET and hath such shape ...etc...plat therefore annexxed to orig. grant of same to William RICHARDSON party hereto together with all and singular gardens, etc." Consideration: 10 Shillings current money. Signed. William RICHARDSON (seal). Wit: Thomas ALLISON and Robert WHITE (by his mark). Proved by Robt. WHITE bef. William MARTIN, J.P. of Camden Dist.. Recorded 03 Mar 1802. 03 September 1778 (Deed)_Wm. RICHARDSON of Parish of St. Mark's, SC, planter, to Gabriel GERALD of same, planter, the following described tract of land: "All that plantation or tract of 500 acres situate...on Sammy Swamp, branch of Black River in Craven County, bounding N on land granted to Richd. KATTON,, NE on Richard WELLS and vacant land, SE on land granted and NW on Joseph CORBET and Halt such shape...etc. plat annexed to original grant to William RICHARDSON...with all gardens, etc." Consideration: 1,400 pds current money. Signed Wm. RICHARDSON (seal). Wit: Thos. ALLISON and Robt. WHITE (by his mark). Proved by WHITE before Wm. MARTIN, J.P.. Recorded 03 Mar 1802. 1778-1779 (Jury)_Camden District, Grand Jurors of Eastward of Wateree Listed "Gabriel FITZGERALD". Also listed were James RICHBOURG, Claud. RICHBOURG and Henry RICHBOURG. (Source: "The Jury List of SC", Hendrix, page 44)

(Note: It appears there is some proof to the rumor that the Geralds were once "Fitzgeralds." Gabriel's son married the daughter of James Richbourg. Claudius and Henry were James' brothers. Looking over deeds and notes, etc. it appears that the Richbourg family was close to Gabriel Gerald, even before the marriage of his son, William, uniting both families.)

21 October 1792 (Deed)_Gabriel GERALD and Elizabeth, his wife, of Clarendon County, SC, Dist. of Camden, to Thomas Nightingale JOHNSTON of afsd Co. and state, the following described tract of land: "A certain tract of 600 acres more or less situated on Sammy Swamp and Hungrey Hold branches of Black River in Clarendon Co., bounding N on lands granted to William RICHARDSON, Richard WELLS, and vacant land, W on lands granted to Thomas William JENKINS, S on lands granted to John SMITH, William McCONNICO and William ____, and E on vacant land and hath such shape...etc...plat annexed to original grant to sd. Co and Dist., the following described tract of land: "All that plantation of 384 acres laying on Sammy Swamp, a branch of Black River in Clarendon, Co....being part of a grant to Wm. RICHARDSON on 9 June 1775, bounded N on land granted to Richard KATTON, NE on Richard WELLS and vacant land, SE on land granted and NW on Joseph CORBETT and hath such shape...etc...plat annexxed to orig. grant, together with all singular gardens, orchards, etc...to sd. plantation or tract of 384 acres (excepting such privileges and rights which have been conveyed in writing by sd. No Date Given_Elizabeth, Benjamin, William, Richard L., Samuel and Charles GERALD; Jacob and Elizabeth BOATNER, Jesse and Mildred T. MOORE, all of Sumter District, SC sold same acres on Hatchet Camp. (Obviously estate lands) (Source: Deed Book, Claremont County, page 209) (NOTE: This was probably in accordance with the auctioning off of the land that was ordered May 1811 and probably occurred within the summer of 1811.)
