The grandfather of Mr. P. S. Harvin organized whatbecame the Reeseville AME Church for his former slaves after the War Between the States. Mr. Harvin gave an acre lot at the station for achurch. Under the leadership of an ex-slave named Pastor Payton, who was the leader of the church from 1868 - 1886, a church building was erected.
