McCALLUM, McCOLLUM - James, Duncan and Unknown brother McCallum were living in Sumter,Sumter Co.S.C. in 1830's per lettter's from James and Duncan McCallum. They were sons of Daniel McCallum born 1770-1780 in Scotland and his unknown first wife. Daniel Sr.and family had lived in Robeson Co. N.C. until sometime in early 1820's  Daniel. Some of the family went to Knox Co. Tn. to live- Daniel and his 2nd wife name unknown and son Daniel, Jr. and maybe another son Archibald went to Tn. (All Daniel, Sr's. children were by his first wife.  He and second wife went back to Robeson Co. to visit in 1841-43 where he died.  Archibald, My Great-Grandfather was in Lumpkin Co. Ga. by 1832 spec. census. Then he came to Union co. Ga. and lived out his life with his family until he died after 1885.
I would like to know where Duncan who died 1836 and the unknown brother who died within two years before are buried in Sumter Co. S. C. Also I know James McCallum had at least one child buried there, and maybe more of his family. (Note I saw there was a McCallum ferry listed in Sumter Co. records on Lynches Creek between Lee and Darlington. The above Duncan had 2 children and a wife called Malsey when he died in 1836 of a bad fever.  If you know of any records about these McCallums/McCollums please let me know. February 1, 2005

RUMPH  / SHIEDER   / SHEIDER - My Great Grandmother was Mary Ann Rumph. She was born 12 Mar 1875 and died 15 Jan 1969. She married James Barney Shieder 12 Oct 1893. They had 4 children; 2 were stillborn, then she had Perry who died between 3-6 months of age. After this they had Augustus Lee Sheider who was born 10 Jan 1898 and died 25 May 1979. (James Barney Shieder's 1st wife had been Margaret Elizabeth Creel ( Lizzy) who died shortly after the birth of son, Samuel Ralph Shieder..11 Jan 1892 - Aug 1974.)

I am trying to get information on the Rumph side of the family.

Mary Ann's father was D.A. Rumph.. I have come across information that says David Adam's 1st wife was Sara J. Murray....  who was the mother of John M, Mary Ann(My Great Grandmother) Wightman K Rumph, and Marion F Rumph and there is a Kistler Rumph.  After the death of his first wife, D.A. Rumph married her sister, Henrietta Murray. I am wondering if David Adam is actually David Alexander Rumph? (Maybe the A stands for Alexander and not Adam.)

My Grandparents were Augustus Lee Shieder Margaret Norcom Sheider ( My grandfather is the one who changed the spelling of  Shieder because one of his professors at Trinity college ( Duke) said it was incorrect ...
My Mother is Kathryn Elizabeth Sheider she married Donald Shuford Tysinger Oct 31 1944.  July 20, 2007

WEBB /  CHANDLER /  MOORE -   I am researching Sumter County SC for a Mrs. Jane H. Webb who was listed in my great great great grandfather James Moore will in July 1854 mentioned her by that name.  She is not a child of James and his wife Hester, so who could she be?   Apparently her married name is Webb but who was she before she married a (?) William Webb.  Hester's maiden name was Chandler.  James's mother was Rachel Chandler who was a daughter of George Chandler and was sister to the Rev Vet John  Chandler who was injured in the Rev War.

Could she be a Chandler or could she be James's Moore sister.  If she is a sister, she was not mentioned in their parents will (Jeremiah and Rachel (Chandler) Moore).  It mentioned Jesse Moore, James Moore, John Kirby (married Nancy Moore) and William Reynolds (married Elizabeth Moore). CARMON/LEE/CARAWAY - I am researching my husband's family from Sumter, Clarendon, & Florence Counties in SC.  I am searching for info on the families of Catherine Catie/Katie Lee who married ?Clarmont Carmon.  Both were born around 1800-1804 in SC.  Their children included Mary (1823-1852) who married Joshua Lee, Martha Jane (1826-1919) who married Daniel Isaiah Driggers, Catherine (1831-1899), & William Tilton (1833-1904) who married Piercie Luanna Truluck.  My husband is a descendant of Catherine Carmon (1831-1899) thru her son, William Hartwell Carmon (1852-1945).

Catie/Katie Lee Carmon also married James Caraway & had children with him.  I am searching for info on the above mentioned people.  Thanks! 2/2/08

TISDALE - I am searching Sumter County for anything about Sherwood Tisdale.  We believe he died there in 1830 or 1831.  We can find no will. We have a US census that he was in Sumter Co in 1830. He married Rebecca Green West, daughter of Joseph West and Susannah Benbow.  He had a son James Edward Tisdale who married in SC to a Sarah Ridgill. We can find no proof of James marriage.  Any help is needed.  September 2008

ARD - SINGLETARY -   Joseph S. Ard married Sophronia P. Singletary in the  1820's. He was born btwn 1801-1809 and she was born about 1814. In the 1830  census they were apparently living with Martha Singletary on the estate of  John Singletary, deceased. (John's will mentions his Granddaughter Sophronia  Pervis Singletary and his daughter Martha Dickey.) Joseph Ard probably died  prior to 1840 as Sophronia was a widow living next door to Martha with three  small daughters.  She had married John C. Carraway by 1850. Does any researcher have any further information on the parents of Joseph S.  Ard? His father could have been either James, Barnabas or Benjamin Ard, all  living in the Williamsburg District at that time. 30 October 2008
