Estate Papers of Charles Amonett

 

 

In the name of God Amen I Charles Amonett ofSumter District South Carolina being very sick and weak in body butof perfect mind and memory thanks be given to God calling into mindthe mortality of my body and knowing that it is appointed for all menonce to die do make and ordain this my last will and Testament thatis to say principally and first of all I give and recommend my soulinto the hand of Almighty God who gave it and my body I recommend tothe earth to be Buried in a decent Christian manner at the discretionof my Executors nothing doubting but at the General Resurrection Ishall receive the same again by the Almighty Power of God and astouching such worldly Estate as it hath pleased God to bless me withI give divise and dispose of the same in the following manner that isto say ---

 

First I give my Grand son John Buddin one Hundredand forty three Acres of land adjoining his land and the remainder ofmy Plantation I Give and dispose to my Grand son Charles A. Buskirkand it is my Will and Desire that my House and Tennements be in thepossession of the one that Maintains John Harrell during his life andI also give to the one of my sons in law that shall maintain the SdJohn Harrell twenty five Dollars yearly to be levied and paid out ofmy movable Estate - and my will and desire is that all my movableEstate be sold at Public Auction be paid out of my estate and thatmoney ^ for to pay the teacher for learning my four Grand ChildrenViz John, Elizabeth, Catherine, and William Buddin and the remainderto be divided among all my Grand Children but my three Grand ChildrenViz Mary Nancy and Judeth Scott not to receive their part till theybecome of the age of eighteen years of age and I do make and ordain Thomas Buskirk and Barwell Evans my Executors to Execute and performmy will and I do hereby disallow revoke and disannull all willsbefore made owning this and no other to be my last will and Testamentas witness my hand and Seal this the fifteenth day of December onethousand eight Hundred and two

Personally appeared Mrs. Sarah Davis one of thesubscribing Witnesses to the Within Will and being Duly Sworn on theHoly Evangelist of almighty God Sayeth that she Was Personallypresent and saw (the?) within named, Charles Amonet, Sign SealPubl(ish?) Pronounce Acknowledge and Declare the Within Instrument ofwriting to be his Last Will and Testament, that he was then of Soundand Disposing Mind Memory and understanding to the best of theDeponants Knowledge and Belief and that Bladley [sic] Rhame, AsaRhame and this Deponant Did Subscribe their names, as Witnesses tothe same at the Request of the Testator In his Presents and inPresents of each other --- This Deponent further sayeth that she sawthe words/, be paid out of my estate/ Interlined before signing,---
