WILL OF DAVID ANDERSON

 

In the name of God Amen.-----I David Anderson ofCamden District, Craven County, State of South Carolina, Planterbeing sick and weak in body, but of perfect mind and memory thanks begiven unto God, therefore calling unto mind the mortality of my body,and knowing that it is appointed unto all men once to die, dotherefore make and ordain this My last Will and Testament-----firstand primarily I give and recommend my soul into the Hands of AlmightyGod who gave it in sure and certain hopes of receiving it again atthe last day, and for such worldly goods as it hath pleased God tobless me with in this life, I give and bequeath them in manner andform following that is to say.............

 

Item. I give and bequeath to my beloved sons JohnAnderson and William Anderson all those Plantations on Tracts of Landmaking in the whole Twelve Hundred Acres, some of which were Grantedto, others purchased by me, Lying and being in the State of Georgiain a place called Newport, said lands to be Equally divided betweenmy said two sons--------

 

Item. I give and bequeath to my son, CooperAnderson and to my grandson James Cantay, another parcel of land oftwo Tracts containing in the whole four Hundred and fifty acres,situated in Newport in the State of Georgia to be equally dividedbetween them--------

 

Item. I give and bequeath to my beloved son, JohnAnderson a Negro fellow named Tym and his wife and their fouryoungest children---------

 

Item. I give and bequeath to my beloved wife,Mary Anderson all the estate wherewith she was presented at the timeof our marriage with all increase and improvement thereon to bedisposed of as she thinks proper-----

 

Item. I give and bequeath to Roger Wilson, son ofDavid Wilson deceased, a tract of 50 acres of land on Elk River,State of South Carolina, known by the name of MillTract--------

 

Item. I will and desire that all the rest of mypersonal Estate be equally divided amongst my beloved wife, my sonsJohn, William and Cooper, my Grandson James Cantay, my daughters,Mary and Sarah------

 

Lastly I constitute, make and appoint my son John,my wife Mary Thomas Quarterman and Andrew Walltour (sp) Executors ofthis my last Will and Testament, and I do hereby revoke and disannullall and every other Will or Wills by me heretofore made, declaringthis and no other to be my Last Will and Testament, in Wittnesswhereof I have hereunto set my hand and Seal this 12th of April, Onethousand seven hundred eighty four-------Signed sealed and deliveredin the presence of

Codicil to Will of David Anderson

 

Be it known unto all Men by these Presents that IDavid Anderson of Maoway in the State of Georgia, have made anddeclared that my last Will and Testament in Writing bearing date the12th of April one Thousand seven hundred and Eighty four-----I thesaid David Anderson do by these Presents, confirm and Ratify my saidlast will and do give and bequeath unto my Nephew John Anderson, Fourhundred and Forty three acres of Land of the Tract of Land whereon henow lives; also I do give and bequeath unto my Nephew WilliamAnderson, Two hundred and fifty seven acres of Land on the supposedBarony to them and their heirs forever provided that the abovesaidJohn Anderson both allow and permit his Mother Ann Anderson to liveon any part of the said Land During her Life Time, and it is also myWill and Desire that my beloved wife Mary, do live upon and enjoythat part of my land (lying and being in the State of Georgia) whichis bequeathed unto William Anderson during her Widowhood and I doalso give and Bequeath unto my Nephew Joseph Anderson my Tract ofLand on Lynches Creek containing Two hundred acres to him and hisHeirs forever and my Will and meaning is that this Codicil orSchedule be esteamed and adjudged to be Part parcel of my said Willand Testament, and that all Things therein contained and mentioned,be faithfully preformed in as full and ample Manner in every Respect,as if the same were so declared and set down in my said Will.
