WILL OF GEORGE CATER, SR.

 

In the Name of God, Amen, The Twenty-Third day ofMay, Anno Domini One Thousand Eight Hundred and Six, I, George Cater,Senior, of State of South Carolina and District of Sumter, being Weakin Body but of good and perfect memory, Thanks be given unto God,Therefore willing to call to mind the mortality of the Body, andExpecting the time of my dissolution to be near at hand, I do makeand ordain this my Last Will and Testament , and first of all I giveand recommend my soul to the hands of God who gave it, and for mybody I recommend it to the Earth to be Buried in a Christian Like anddecent manner at the discretion of my Executors, nothing doubting butat the General resurrection I shall receive the same again by theMighty power of God.---and as Touching such Worldly Estate where withit hat pleased God to Bless me in this Life, I give, bequeath anddispose of the same in the following manner and form, Imprimus, Itive and bequeath to my loving wife Judith all my personal propertyduring her natural life, and at her death to be sold, and equallydivided between my sons, Daniel and Burwell, and my daughterElizabeth.

 

Item I give and bequeath to my son William fiveshillings to be paid one year after my death.

 

Item I give and bequeath to my son George fiveshillings to be paid one year after my death.

 

Item I give unto my daughter Ann Crater fiveshillings to be paid twelve months after my death.

 

Item I give and bequeath unto my daughter SarahTeague five shillings to be paid one year after my death.

 

Item I give and bequeath unto my daughter FrancesKnighton five shillings to be paid one year after my death.

 

Item I give and bequeath to my son John fiveshillings to be paid one year after my death.

 

Item I give and bequeath to my son Obed fiveshillings to be paid one year after my death.

 

Item I give and bequeath unto my son Daniel OneHundred and Ninety Acres of Land out of the tract I now liveon.

 

Item I give and bequeath to my son Burwell fortyAcres of Land being part of a tract which Obed Cater Lives on, alsoOne Hundred and Ten Acres of the tract I now live on to Join thebefore mentioned forty acres.

 

Item I give my wife the use of the plantationwhereon I live her Lifetime.

 

I like wife make, constitute and appoint WilliamCater and Daniel Cater my Executors.----- I do revoke and disannulall other wills, in witness whereof I set my hand and seal this 23rdMay, 1806.
