In the Name of God Amen I Samuel Commander Senr.of Saint Marks Parish Planter, being Sick & weak in Body but ofPerfect Mind & Memory; Thanks be Given unto God. calling untomind the Mortality of my Body, & knowing that it is appointed forall Men once to Di do make & ordain this my last Will &.Testament, that is to say, principally & first of all, I give& recommend my Soul into the Hand of Almighty God that gave it,& my Body I recommend to the Earth, to be Buried in DecentChristian Burial at the Discretion of my Executors; nothing doubtingbut at the general Resurrection I shall Receive the same again, bythe Mighty Power of God. And as touching such worldly Estatewherewith it has Pleased God to Bless me in this life, I give,demise, & dispose of the same in the following Manner & Form:First I give to my Sons James & Thomas Commander, the sum of FiveShillings Sterling to Each of them. and the Sum of Five ShillingsSterling Money to each of my Deceased Children (which I had by myfirst Wife) or their Heirs Likewise to all the Children which areMarried, that I had by my Last Wife I have given them their partalready which is a Small Stock of Cattle, to each of them, And myupper Tract of Land which I Bought of John Egan I Desire may beequally Divided in the Midst, the half for my Son Samuel & theother half for my Son Joseph, also the Plantation I now reside on Idesire that Mary my Dear Wife may reside on during Widow- hood,afterwards to be for my youngest Son Jesse, And I do desire that allthe rest of my Estate my continue together as it is for the Term offive years, for the Support of my Wife & young Children, then Idesire that my Wife may have a Horse or Mare Bridle & Saddle, herChoice to be hers, and Likewise my Negro wench Named Venas I Desiremy Wife may have her, with her, to Labour for her During the NaturalLife of my Wife, also my Wife to have a good feather Bed &furniture, And all the rest of my Estate I Desire may be Dividedinto four Equal parts a part to each of my four Youngest ChildrenI had by my Last Wife, which is, Samuel, Joseph, Jesse, and Martha myDaughter, And the above said Negro wench Named Venas, at the Death ofmy Wife, both she and her Increase if any, after the Term of fiveyears shall be Equally Divided Between my four Youngest Childrenabove Named.--- And I do Likewise Constituite & appoint my ThreeYounges Sons Namely Samuel, Joseph, & Jesse Commander to be theExecutors of this my Last Will and Testa-Ment, An I do hereby utterlyDisallow, revoke and Disanull all & every other formerTestaments, Wills Legacies, Bequests & Ex- ecutors by me in anyways before Named, willed & bequeathed; rattifying and confirmingthis, and no other to be my Last Will and Testament.
