In the Name of God, Amen. I Joseph D Cox ofCharleston, South Carolina, being in good and perfect health blefsedbe God for the same and Knowing the uncertainty of this Life, do makethis my last Will and Testament. Viz.

 

I give and bequeath unto my Brother John Cox Myhalf of Lot of Land & Buildings theiron Situated in Meetingstreet No 127 Also My proportion of a tract of Land situated inSumter District High hills of Santee containing, one hundred andFifty acres and the following Negroes, Abel, Sandy, Bazele, big Jack,little Jack, old Collins, and Lease. To My Nice Susanah cox Porter Igive & bequesth the four following Negroes Barbary & herthree children Jacob, Andrew and Solomon -- or in lieu thereof oneThousand Dollars, as My Brother Might think best. My householdFurniture, and what ever proportion May come to Me on the settlementof My Mother Estate to be disposed of as My executor should seem fit,in regard to the settlement of My just debts and the overplus if anythere should be, I give to My brother John Cox-----And I do herebyappoint him my Executor said John Cox of Charleston aforesaidExecutor of this my last Will and Testament, hereby revoking anddisannuling all other wills by Me Made, acknowledging this to be mylast Will & Testament, In witnefs where of I have here unto setMy hand and Seal this Sixth day of March, one Thousand Eight hundredand Seven-----------
