WILL OF JAMES HELTON

South Carolina Clarendon County-------------In the Name or GodAmen I James Helton of the State and County aforesaid being ofperfect mind and memory, do make this my last will and TestamentFirst I recommend my Soul to God almighty, that gave It and my bodyto the earth decent christian burial at the discretion of myExecutors, and as touching Such worldly estate as it, has pleasedGod to bless me with, I give and dispose of in form and Mannerfollowing first I desire that. my loving wife Rebecca Helton Shallhave the whole of my estate during her life and after her death Idesire that the two tracts of land whereon the plantation is nowShall go to my son John James Helton and the other lands, to beequally devided between my two sons William Jefse Helton, and JoshuaColete Helton, end as for the Stock of all kinds Negroes andhousehold furniture, I desire to be equally devided between Mychildren, after the death of my wife and as for the disposing of anyof the property belonging to the said estate, I leave at the will ofthe Exors. as they may think best for the benefit of the saidestate, and if my three sons should all die Leaving no issue Idesire my Brother William Helton May have the whole of the estate andthe land whereon William does now live, being seventy acres, a partof a tract of 170 acres I desire my Exors, may make titles to thesaid William dod when he pays, for sd land according to bargain whois to be at all Costs of titles and pay ten pounds, fourteenshillings and six pence with interest from March 1791 provided thesaid William dod complies with said Bargain in two years, from thisdate--Hope Ridgeway is also to have a part of a tract of land in oxSwamp Supposed to be 100 acres at twelve pounds ten shillings withInterest from Nov 1791 provided he pays in four years from saiddate, and be at the Cost of titles, and I do hereby constitute and appoint my dear wife Rebecca Hilton and trusty friends, WilliamHelton and John Ridgill to be the exors of this my last Will antTestament ratifying and confirming this and no other to be my lastWill and testament in Witnefs whereof, I sett my hand and Seal thisninth day of March in the year of our lord one thousand sevenhundred and ninety five and of the Seven eighty and independence ofthe Nineteenth-----------of the united States
