Will of Margaret Kingswood

 

I Margaret Kingswood relict of the late JacobKingswood of Clarendon County, Sumter district in the State of SouthCarolina, planter, do make this my last will a testament in thefollowing manner, to wit: First, to dearly beloved sister' SusannahRichbourg & Isabella L. Nelson & their heirs I bequeath theNegrafa (negro) Zilpha (now about thirty six years of age) till sheshall have completed her fiftieth year, when she shall have beenliberated in the manner prescribed by law, and also her children orinaue (issue) to be apprised and the value equally divided among thesaid Isabella L. Nelson on d (and) Susannah Richbourg & theirheirs so that the children of the said Zilpha may not be Separatedfrom her who is their mother, at my death. Secondley, It is my willthat the following negroes, viz. Peter, Lucy, Neptune, Sailor &Charlotte be set free at my death in a full & ample a manner asthe Laws of this State will admit. And that Mingo the son of theaforesaid Charlotte be also liberated when he shall have been fiftyyears of age, he being now about twenty eight years old, and that hebe not separated from his mother, but remain with the said SusannahRichbourg, or with Isabella L. Nelson or their heirs, according totheir agreement: And that Claudius Richbourg & Jared L. Nelsonshall have the management of them.Richbourg & Jared L. Nelson the Executors of this my last will & testament: and I moreovergive & bequeath my riding chair, & harnefa (harness) untoMrs. Harriet White in consideration of my esteem.
