WILL OF JOHN McCOY

 

In the name of God amen, I John McCoy Senior ofthe State of South Carolina and District of Sumter being weak andafflicted in body but pofsefsing a Sound and disposing mind do makethis my last will and Testament (hereby revoking all others made byme here to fore) in manner and form following; to wit. First Irecommend my soul to Almighty God who gave it, hoping that I shallreceive the remifsion of my Sins and be received into his kingdom ofrest; my body I wish to be decently buried at the discretion of myfriends and with regard to the worldly goods with which it hathpleased God to blefs me I give and dispose of in the followingManner, Item. I give devise and bequeath unto my beloved wifeCatharine my two negro men by names Bob and Anthony to be disposed ofby her at her discretion- Item I give devise and bequeath unto myBeloved wife Catharine, also all my house hold and kitchen Furnitureand my Stock of horses, cattle and hogs, being all that I am nowpofsefsed of. It is also my will and desire that all of my childrendo hold the property that I have here to fore given them and of whichthey are now pofsefsed; and I do hereby constitute and appoint mybeloved wife Catharine Executrix and my son William Executor to thismy last will and Testament, sealed and signed with my hand this firstday of January in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred andeighteen and in the forty third year of the Independence of theUnited States of America
