WILL OF LEWIS McLENDON

 

In the Name of God Amen. I Lewis McLendon do makethis my last Will, and Testament as follows Viz.

First I give and bequeath to my beloved wife SusaDunn MClendon, the use of all my estate both real, and personal,during the time of her widowhood; in lieu of her dowry: but in caseshe should marry it is my will and desire that she receive an equalpart of my personal estate, with my children, during her natural lifeonly; and at the time of her death to return to my children, to bedivided in the manner herein directed.---

I give and bequeath to my son Calvin McClendon theLand, and Plantation whereon I now live, after the death or marriageof my wife Susa Dunn M'Clendon---

It is likewise my will and desire that at thedeath of my wife Susa Dunn M'Clendon; that my children JacobM'Clendon, Mary Miseon, Sarah M'Clendon, Laney M'Clendon, PurityRobinson, & Calvin M'Clendon, do have the lone of all my personalestate Share, and Share alike, during their natural lives: and at thedeath of either of the above Children it is my will, and desire, thatthe part above mentioned do go to the issue of their own body; and ifno such issue, then such part to return to the surviving part of myChildren; but in case any of my children should be dead having leftissue, that such issue do receive the part, which their parent wouldhave been entitled to, in case he, or she had been living. And I dohereby constitute make and ordain Susa Dunn McLendon Jacob M'Clendonand Calvin M'Clendon Executors to this my last will and testament. Inwitness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and Seal this fifth dayof May in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred andseventeen and in the forty first year of the Independence ofAmerica---
