WILL OF WILLIAM MOODY

 

In the name of God amen I William Moody ofClaredon County Sumter District South Carolina being Very sick andweak in body but of perfect mind and memory thanks be given unto Godcalling to mind the mortallity of my body and knowing that it isappointed for all men Once to die do make and Ordain this my lastwill and Testament that is to say principally and first of all I giveand recommend my Soul into the hands of Almighty God that give it andmy body. I recommend to the Earth to be buried in a Decent Christian burial at the descretion of my Executors not doubting but at thegeneral resurrection I shall receive the same again by the mightypower of God and as touching Worldly Estate wherewith it bath pleasedGod to bless me in this life I give, desire and dispose of the samein the following manner and Form-First it is my desire that all mylawful debts shall be paid Secondly I give and bequeath unto mynephew John Moody a tract of Land containing One Hundred acres lyingbetween Sammy swamp and Halfway swamp and that my Mother LuvicyGilbert shall live and have Quiet possession therein during her lifeThirdly I give and bequeath unto my beloved Wife Susanna and ChildSarah all the remaining property such as Negroes, Lands, Stock andhousehold furniture when an Equal division shall be made of theEstate Henry Spry decd and if my wife should prove pregnant my willis that the Child should have and Equal part of the above mentionedproperty With my wife Susanna & Sarah and I do hereby constitutemake and Ordain my wife as Executrix and James H McKnight & AdamBenbow as Executors of this my last will and Testament and I dohereby utterly disallow revoke, and disannul all and every otherformer Testaments wills legacies bequeaths and Executors by me beforenamed ratifying this and no other to be my last will and Testament-..In witness a whereof I have hereunto set my hand and Seal this Secondday of April One thousand Eight hundred and ten Signed Sealedpublished and pronounced by William Moody as his Last will andTestament.
