ELIZABETH NEWMAN

 

In the name of God, Amen.--Know all concerned thatI Elizabeth Newman of Salem Lynches Creek, Sumter District, SouthCarolina--Widow of Thomas Newman deceast--being weak in Body but ofsound Mind and Recollection--Knowing the Uncertainty of Life do makethis my last Will and Testement in Manner and Form following Viz--Inthe first place I commend my Soul into the Hands of Almighty God mycreator and Redeemer who gave it--I desire my Body to have decentChristian Burial at the Discretion of my Executors--hoping for aglorious Resurrection in Christ at the last Day.

As to my Wordly estate I will and desire all mylawful debts to be paid---Of which debts without interest I requestto be paid to my sons John and Samuel eighty dollars each and fortythree dollars to my son Eli who recieved thirty seven dollarsalready--this money I recieved from those three John, Samuel and Eliin the price of Buster and pay the interest in my lifetime--To Eli Ihave also given a brown Fill Feather Bed and Furniture not to becharged to him in the Division--

To Susanna my daughter, I have given a Featherbedand Furniture not to be charged in the Division. Also to her littleSon my brownish-red Head Cow & Heifer Yearling & Increase andin case of his death-next living child.

My Will and Desire is that all my Estate, real andpersonal be appraised and equally divided between my sons, Athaliah,John, Samuel, Eli and daughter Susanna without expense.

That one dollar and no more be paid to each of thefollowing children-Natherniah, Elizabeth, Achsah and Mary.

I desire my land to be divided from a Gum Cornerup the little Branch between Nehehmn & L. Fields house's--acrossto the middle of Black Creek. Leve Athaliah to have the Upper andJohn the Lower Part--Samuel to have Brister and Tools. If Bristerdies before a Division, Samuel to have an equal part with the fourLegatees. If any die without issue, leaving that part to be dividedamongst the Surviving Legatees.

I appoint Daniel DuBose, Joseph Commander and mytwo sons, John and Samuel, Executors.
