WILL OF JOHN RAGIN

 

In the Name of God Amen, I John Ragin being infirmin body, but of Sound mind and Memory do Make and Constitute this mylast Will and Testament, hereby Revoking and Disannulling all andevery Other will by me made or for my purpose---First after all myJust Debts are paid Out of my Estate by my Executors hereafternamed---I will and bequeath Unto my beloved Wife Sarah Ragin Duringher Natural Life, Three Negroes Viz-Peter Grace and Junor and the useof my Dwelling house with the use of my Land, and also the use of theCattle and hogs, and all the house hold and Kitchen Furniture andalso the use of the Riding Carrige and horses, and at her Death toReturn to my Seven Children, to them and their heirs forever--I dogive Unto my Daughter Sarah Ragin now the wife of John King; OneNegro Girl Named Silvy, and One hundred Acres of land where she nowlives, and three Cows and Calfs--and also I give Unto my DaughterMary Ragin, One Negro Girl Named Susannah, and also One hundred Acresof Land, and three Cows and Calfs, Sarah and Mary Ragin is Each ofthem to have a horse a Saddle of a hundred Dollars Value----SarahRagin to have hers given her at the sale of this present Crop, andMary Ragin to have hers at her Marriage and also the Land Negro andCattle to be given at the same time into her pofsision-and I giveunto my Son James Ragin a Negro Man Named Sam, and also One hundredacres of Land-and I give unto my Son John H. Ragin a Negro WenchNamed Silvy, and also One hundred acres of Land---and it is my willthat after my Wifes Death that my Son John H. Ragin shall the NegroPeter take in liew of the wench Silvy which I now give him, and thesaid Silvy with the Rest of my Wifes part is to be Devided as abovementioned, and I give to my Son Richard Ragin a Negro Boy NamedEllick, and also One hundred acres of Land--I give Unto my Son DavidRagin One Negro Girl Named Abigail, and also One hundred acres ofLand--And Also I give unto my Son Charles C Ragin a Negro Boy NamedJuly, and also One hundred acres of Land--and I leave a Negro ManNamed Joe, and also a girl Named Cloe on the plantation for theSupport of my Children, and it is my will that Each and Every one ofthe Heirs shall have their part given them as they arrive at the Ageof twenty one Years, and the Rest to Remain in the hands of myExecutors and Work'd Upon my Land, and I now give Unto my step SonJohn P Felder a Shark Colt, and Unto William Felder I give my Saddlehorse, and it is my will that After my Wifes Death that her part, andAlso the ballance of my Estate both Real and personal, includingStock and Every thing Else that is mine, to be Equally dividedbetween my Seven Children, that is to say between Sarah Ragin MaryRagin James Ragin John H Ragin Richard Ragin David Ragin and CharlesC. Ragin and to be to them and their heirs forever----

I also Constitute and appoint to this my last Willand Testament my beloved Friends Sarah Ragin, John P Felder, JamesRagin, and John H Ragin, in witnefs whereof I have hereunto set myhand and Seal this 25th day of May in the Year of Eighteen hundredand three
