In the Name of God amen I James Rembert of theState of So. Carolina Sumter district (Planter) being of Sound &perfect mind, Memory and understanding, thanks be to god for theSame. DO make this my last will & testament in form & mannerfollowing: Imprimis in the mind and thro the great merits of JesusChrist my Lord and only Savior I do commend my Soul to the mercies ofa gracious God in full hopes of a glorious immortality & my bodyI commend to the Earth to be decently interred at the discretion ofmy Executors hereafter named & as for such worldly Estatewherewith it hath pleased God to bless me with I do give &bequeath the same as follows, First, I give wholly for the use of theMethodist Society for this neighborhood the meeting hours onhomeswamp together with two acres of Land Around the Same # Item Ilend to my beloved wife Ann Rembert the following property Viz SixNegroes named Jack, Baby, Isaac, New Jacob, New Silvy & DanielShe to Clothe them & pay their taxes also Six cows & calvesone three year old Steer one two year old Do. one fourth part of myhogs, all my Sheep, two of my horses Such as She shall choose, alsoone third part of my household furniture, after the appraisement takeplace the value of the whole of the furniture to be ascertained shethen to choose whatever may Suit her best to the amount of one thirdpart of the whole. she is also to have use of of the house & outhouses where I now live (the gin & gin house Excepted) & thefree undisturbed use of all the cleared Land included in the Reareryin Which the house is Situated together with the privilege offirewood & timber the above property to be freely used by herduring the time she remains my widow, & in case she never marriesduring her life, the whole of which shall immediately after hermarriage or death revert to my children hereafter to be named ortheir heirs. Item I give & bequeath to my Sons Samuel, Caleb& Isaac & to my Daughter Mary Dubose two houses & lots inthe Town of Camden to them their heirs & assigns forever myExecutors to dispose of the same as they shall think best in order tomake an Equal division of the Same. Item I give & bequeath to mySon Samuel the following Negroes June, Elay, Paul, Abraham greppa,little Sary Charles, Neppy, & Charlotte to him his heirs &assigns forever. Item. I give & bequeath to my Son Caleb a tractof land containing four hundred and fifty acres granted to Jno. NOglethorpe, one tract of a thousand acres granted to--Ramsey, alsoNine hundred and fifty acres more or less granted to Jno. Rembertbeing part of a tract of fifteen hundred acres also the followingNegroes, Santo, Big Nero, old Frank, Tom, Phillis, Tommy, Nancy Lucylong Silvy little Liddy, Sally, Lukey, Porttin, Bet Mary, LittleFrank Hannah, Ben little Jo big Jacob, Stephen, Leah, Nan, LittleAimy, little little Nero, Ben old Jassemin, Josey, Caty to him hisheirs & assigns forever. Item I give & bequeath to my sonIsaac the Plantation whereon I now live containing six hundred &fifty acres also one hundred & sixty five more or less being partof a tract granted to Saml. Dwyer & by him conveyed to me, also atract of one hundred & ten acres granted to Jno. Chamber also twoother tract one of an hundred acres granted to Mary Shepperd theother of thirty acres granted to Saml Rembert, also one other tractcontaining three hundred acres granted to Jno. Fleming also Sevenhundred & fifty acres more or less being part of a tractcontaining of three thousand acres granted to Jno. Rutledge Esqr.also the following Negroes Viz--John, Jo, Lizet, Sibel Milly, Mino,Little Nero, Short Silvy Duck, Cloe, little Silvy, Ned, Amerita,George, Diannah, Cilly, Paul, Lyddy, Susy, lizet, Cloe, Scipio bobcarolina, Dayman old Sary, dimy, Rosa--Sebenah to him his heirsassigns forever. & my will is that in case my son Isaac Shouldnot be restored to his reason again that the portion above given himor any hereafter given him shall shall remain in the care of myExecutors but if it should please God to restore him to reason again,then any time after he arrives to lawful age It shall be given up tohim. Item I give & bequeath to my Daughter Mary Dubose thefollowing Negroes Hannah, Harry Anthony, big Lyddy, Merseah, littleJassemin to her, her heirs & assigns forever. I give &bequeath to my Grand Son James Rembert DuBose one Negro girl namedGrace, to him his heirs assigns forever. the rest residue &remainder of my Estate after my just debts are first paid I give tobe Equally divided between my children above named or their heirs inthe manner following Viz let my acting Executors or Executorshereafter to be named choose three respectable Neighbor & letthem make as many divisions or lots as there shall be heirs &let a lot be drawn for Each heir, all of them to take possession immediately my Son Isaac excepted his portion to remain as abovedirected. And I do hereby nominate ordain & appoint my Son CalebRembert & Doctr. Ezekiel Dubose Executors of this my last willand testament & I do hereby revoke & make Void all former& other wills by me at any time heretofore Made & I dopublish & declare these presents to be & contain my only lastwill & testament in witness whereof I have hereunto Set my band& Seal this Seventeenth day of Septr. in the year of Our LordOne thousand eight hundred & Ten
