WILL OF WILLIAM RIDGILL

 

In the name of God Amen - I William Ridgill of theCounty of Clarendon & State of South Carolina, being in a lowState of Body; but perfect in Mind and Memory, and calling to mind mydisolution or change from this world to that which is to come domake, constitute and ordain this to be my last will and TestamentRevoking all other Wills heretofore by memade-----------------------------------First of all I do recommend mySoul to Almighty God the giver, and my Body to buried in a decentmanner by the discretion of my Executors hereafter appointed ---ItemI lend to my beloved Wife Elizabeth all my Estate Real and personalduring her natural Life or Widowhood for her Use and Support, but inCase she should Marry before death then and in that case I give andBequeath as follows---Item I give unto my Son Richard Ridgill all myLands and Tenements and one Third Part of my Personal Estate Exceptas hereafter Excepted ---I give and Bequeath to my Daughter NanceyRidgill one Third Part of my personal Estate except as hereafterExcepted I give unto my Daughter Rebeckah Ridgill one other ThirdPart of my personal Estate except as hereafter Excepted----- I Giveunto my beloved Wife Elizabeth One Negroe Woman named Milly duringher natural Life with the Increase But at her Death the said Negroe -Milly with Increase shall return into my Estate, and to be equallydivided between my my three Children - and whereas that Part of myfathers which he Willed to me have been heretofore detained from bymy Stepmother and of Course I do not know what it may Amount to, itis my desire that when it is recovered--- that my Executors hereafterAppointed shall make three Equal dividends of it and give it, onethird part to my three Children each of them share and share alike assoon as of age or Marryed, Item I do appoint my trusty FriendsWilliam McConnico, Henry Richbourg and Jefse Hilton to by myExecutors of this my last Will and Testament, Signed, Sealed andpublicly acknowledged this first Day of January One Thousand SevenHundred and Ninety four
