WILL OF HENRY SPREY

 

In the name of God Amen I Henry Sprey of the Stateof South Carolina and Sumter District being infirm in Body but ofSound and disposing mind and memory thanks be given to the almightyand calling to mind that it is once appointed for all men to die domake and ordain this my last Will and Testament.

Imprimis I commit my Body to the earth to beburied in decent and Christian like manner at the discretion of myExecutors and my Soul to its maker god---

Item I will and request that all of my just Debtsbe paid out of my Estate by my Executors to be hereafternamed---

Item I will and bequeath to my beloved wife Marytwo negroes Viz Will a grown fellow and Billy a Boy to her and theHeirs of her Body forever I also will and desire that my belovedwife shall continue on the plantation whereon I now reside during herwidowhood as my widow and that she be equally supported out of myStock with my Children during the above time---

Item I give and bequeath the residue of my Negroesto my four Children Susanna, Mary, Isabella Green, and Josiah and ifeither of my Children die under age their part or parts to be equallydivided among my surviving Children---

Item I give and Bequeath to my Children thefollowing plantations or Tracts of Land to be equally divided betwixtthem Viz The Tract of three hundred Acres whereon I now live also oneother Tract adjoining Lands of Joel Green containing one hundredAcres also one other Tract containing fifty Acres generally known bythe name of Beards pond---

Item I give and Bequeath to Joel Green one Tractof Land containing one hundred Acres originally granted to JamesHarper of Craven County Surveyed for him on the 18th day of June 1757a reference being had to the Plat will more fully appear also onehundred Acre being the upper part of a Two hundred Acres Tractgranted to John Blifs Surveyed for him on the fifth day of November1751 a reference being had to the Plat will more fullyappear---

Item I give and Bequeath to my beloved SistersSusanna Benbow (wife of Adam Benbow) and Isabella Green (daughter ofMoses Green Dec.d) a Tract of Land containing three Hundred Acresoriginally granted to Mathew Neilson by warrant bearing Date theSecond Day of October Anna Domini 1753 a reference being had to thePlat will more fully appear to be equally divided betwixt them by theupper half belonging to my Sister Susanna and the lower half to mySister Isabella---

Lastly in Order to carry this my last will intoeffect I do hereby nominate my beloved Friends Robert Dingle and JoelGreen my Executors and my beloved wife Mary Executrix to this my lastWill and Testament made this thirtieth day of December one thousandeight hundred and two
