The State of South Carolina

In the name of God Amen I WilliamThompson of Sumter district and State aforesaid, being sick and weakof body, but of perfect sound mind and memory, calling to mind my mortality, and knowing that it is appointed for all men once to die,do make and ordain this my last Will and Testament Principally andfirst of all I resign my soul to God who gave it, and my body to thedust, to be buried in a decent Christian like manner; As touchingsuch worldly estate as it hath pleased God to blefs me with, I giveand bequeath in the following manner -

Item I give and bequeath to my beloved daughterSarah Thompson the plantation on which I now live together with alland singular the buildings there on standing, and improvements andpriviledges there unto belonging, or in anywish incident orappartaining - also all the part which lies on the west side of thebranch commonly known by the name of Taylors- Swamp being part of atract of land adjoining said plantation, containing in the whole bythe original survey five hundred and fifteen Acres, granted to thesaid William Thompson by a grant bearing date the fifth day of November Anno Domini 1787 - Also seven negroes (Viz) Woman Phillis,Girl Hannah, boy Wade, boy Jime, boy Stepney, girl Abigail, and girlDoreas: also a horse saddle and bridle, one feather bed andfurniture, and her trunk, to her and her hairs forever, Providedneverthelefs that if my said daughter Sarah should die withoutlawful ifsue then the above named property to return into my estateand be equally devided among my Heirs;

Item I give and bequeath to my beloved daughterElizabeth Friar five hundred dollars as her full share of myEstate-to be paid to her by my Executors -

Item It is my will and desire that the remainingpart of my Estate both real and personal be Sold at public Vendue,and after paying my funeral charges, Just debts, and the fivehundred dollars bequeathed above to my daughter Elizabeth Friar, thereminder of the amount of said Sale, to be equally divided among mythree beloved daughters Ann McCants, Jane McCants, and SarahThompson, and the three children of my deceased daughter Mary Alexander (Viz) Elizabeth, John and Silvia, the said three childrento have alltogether their mother would have been entitled to had shebeen still alive the said share to be equally divided among the saidthree children to be paid to them by my Executors as theyrespectively arive to the age of twenty one years or day ofmarriage, and should either of the said children died under age notleaving any lawful ifsue, his or her part as dying, shall go to thesurviver or survivers of my said three grand children. -

Item It is my will and desire that the propertyheretofore given to each and every of my Children, together with theproperty bequeathed to them in this my last Will and Testament shallbe veste in them and their Heirs forever - And I do hereby nominateconstitute and appoint my Son in law Thomas McCants and my FriendJohn Perry Executors of this my last Will and Testament,disannulling and revoking all former Wills and Testaments ratifyingand confirming this and this only to be my last Will and Testament,In Witnefs whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this seventhday of December in the Year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and sixteen -
