In the Name of God, Amen, I, William DrakeWalter of Clarendon County, Sumter

District, So. Carolina, Planter; being of Soundmind, memory, & understanding, do this

twenty fifth day of October in the year of ourLord one Thousand eight hundred & nine, publish & declarethis to be my last Will & Testament in manner & formfollowing:

Viz--It is my Will that all my just debts be paidfully, (before my property be divided or Legacies paid) as soon aspossible after my decease--Item--I give & bequeath unto myaffectionate Brother Jno C. Walter, & his Heirs & assignforever all my proportion of an undivided tract of Land near BrisbansFerry on the Wateree River-as also my Tract of Lane in St.George'sParish, & the following negroes & their Issue--Viz- Peter& his wife Nanny & children Bob & Juno Dinah & herChild Sammy--Nelly & her Son George & Joe--As also my Stockof Horses & excepting such as shall be hereafter mentioned- &my double Barrelled Gun--Item I do hereby give & bequeath unto mysister Sarah C. Walter (during the time she shall remain unmarried)-the plantation upon which I now reside, with plantation Tools,Household & Kitchen Furniture, Plate, Crockery &c of everydescription as also two mules and my stock of Cattle & Hogs--Butin case of her Marriage or death, I give & devise the abovePlantation in Clarendon County, Sumter District; to my Nephew SimsWhite & his heirs & assigns forever-likewise I will &bequeath to my sister Sarah Contay Walter & to her Heirs &assigns forever the following negroes: Viz- Joan, Mary, Pompey,Celia, Bob, & Cora. Item- I give & bequeath to my Nephew SimsWhite, his heirs & assigns the following negroes with theirfuture Issue-Viz- James, Na Delia, Simon & his son Ben. Item- Igive & bequeath to my niece, Mary White, the following negroes:Lucy, Mira John & affricah Ben. I give and bequeath unto myniece Helen Maria Walter, the following negroes: Viz- George,Lavinia & Jack. Item, I give & bequeath unto my niece, JuliaAmanda Legueux the following negroes, Viz- Nanny & her twochildren, Celia & Tenny. Item, I give & bequeath unto theheirs of the body of my sister Harriet Legueux the following negroesViz- Tiero, Sambo, Mariah, Monday-Cumba, Cuffy & Adam- as also anote of Sims Legueux's to the amt--of seven hundred & fiveDollars- which I desire

may be laid out in the most advantageous manner bymy Executors or my administrators for their benefit- Item, I give& bequeath to my valued friend, Benj. G.
