Will of Thomas Anderson

In the name of God Amen  I Thomas Anderson of State and district aforesaid: being weak of body but of Sound mind and memory. Calling to mind the mortality of the Body knowing that all men must die and after death the immortality of the Soul doth Recommend my soul to Almighty God and after My Just debts is paid, doth make this my last will and testament Viz: I give and

bequeath to my Daughter Margaret Dennis One Negro Boy named Henry to her and the heirs of her body forever And all debts due to me from her husband Gower Dennis and twenty Acres of Land ten of my swamp Land for a swamp right & ten my Sandhill land or in leu thereof ten Dollars to Made and paid out of my Estate for the ten Acres of Sandhill Lands ‑   I give and bequeath to My Daughter Martha B. Conneres one negro boy named Rug. her bed that goes by name one Cow & Calf and fifty Acres of my pine Land in the So. East Corner adjoining Pingle & Bowmans Land and ten Acres of swamp land for swamp priviledges and ten acres of my sandhill Tract or in leu of the sand hill Land ten Dollars to be Raised out of my Estate to her and the heirs of her Body for ever - I also give her Daughter Mildred one negro girl named Sarah for herself to help Raise said Child and If Liza should keep said Child she is to take said negro girl & have the use of said girl untill Mildred is of age and Mildred and the heirs of her body is to have such girl forever But if Mildred should die leaving no bodily heir then said girl is to be equally divided between the Bodily heirs of my three Daughters Margaret Dennis Martha B Conners and Mary Liza Walling - I give and bequeath to by Daughter Mary Liza Walling one negro Girl named Kitty& Fifty Acres of my pine Tawcaw Land in the North East Corner & ten acres of my swamp Land for a swamp Right & ten Acres of my Sandhill Land or in lieu of the Sand hill Land to be paid out of my Estate ten Dollars Also the Bed & Cow and Calf which she now Claims and one Cow & calf More for the cow & killed of hers to her and the heirs of her body forever - I give and bequeath Unto my two Sons named Robert A Anderson and Thos. William Fletcher Anderson all my real and personal Estate viz one hundred and fifty Acres of pine land on Tawcaw north West & south Sides it being the remainder after Martha B Connors is measured of and Mary Liza Walling gets her share of:  And the Remainder of my swamp tract that is not above mentioned and All my Sand hill plantation that has not been heretofore mentioned (it is my wish and desire that my Swamp Land to be so divided that every share may run from the East line into Santee River that every share may have a part of upland and swamp) : also that my Sandhill Land must never be sold out of my family but that it may be Rented at any

time for any term years if under Ninetynine) with all of my horses hogs Cattle household and Kitchen furniture Guns Books &c to them and their heirs forever share and share alike when Thos. Wm. F shall Come to the age of Eighteen but to be Kept Together Untill Said Thomas shall arive at said age - It is my wish that Arthur Walling Should he wish to live with my two Sons that he may have her equal Share of all the neat profit arising from my Sons Lands Stock of horses Cattle hogs and all other Appareteses of my Estate which I leave to my two Sons so that my sons may get a Liberall English Education : And I hope that they will all unite in love and the mutual help of each other that my little Boys may not be cast of when they are too young to provide for themselves -  It is to be understood that my negroes named Ben Linda Lyddy Jerry

Byrd and Jane and their increase is left all to Robert A Anderson & Thos. W F Anderson and to be equally divided between my Sons share & share alike when Thos. becomes Eighteen years old and not before But to work together for the benefit of clothing & Shooling Said Boys ‑-

Also to give Mildred one cow and Calf to help to Raise her as I owe her a cow & calf -                  And I do hereby appoint Arthur Walling, Robert A Anderson ( and Thomas Wm F Anderson when he becomes Eighteen years old ) and Doctor Swipson Cox as Counseller to Direct those that I do hereby nominate to be my Executors to my last Will and testament: And I do hereby renounce and Set Void all other wills and Testaments by me maid heretofore: And do now declare this and no other to be my last will and in witnefs whereof I do now set my hand and seal to this in the presence of the Subscribing witnefses to this  day of and Year of our Lord One thousand Eight hundred and twenty eight and in the fifty second year of American independance united States -
