In the Name of God Amen I Mary Cantey of the Stateof South Carolin, Sumter District -- being weak of body but ofperfect mind and memory thanks be unto God for the same and knowingthat it is appointed once for all men to die do make and ordain thismy last will and testament -- Viz

Principally and first of all, I give my Soul intothe hand of God that gave it and my body to be decently buried at thediscretion of my under named Executor as touching my worldlyestate.

I will and bequeath unto my sister, Sarah Sanders,my plantation and tract of land my household and kitchen furniture,plantation tools, horse and my wagon during her natural life. Also,the present crop of provisions.

I will unto my niece, Jane Simmons, my featherbed.

I will unto Sarah Simmons, my niece, a cow andcalf called hers.

Also, I will unto Gadsey Simmons, my niece, allthe cattle called hers.

I also give unto Mary M Simmons, my niece, one cowand calf.

I will that the balance of my stock of all kind besold and the money after paying my lawful debts to be equally dividedbetween my brother, Henry Bowman, and my four neices Mary, Sarah,Jane, and Gadsey Simmons at the death of my sister, SarahSanders.

I will that my tract of land be sold and the moneyequally divided between my brother Henry Bowman and my five niecesthe four Simmons and Abigail Wise except sixty dollars. I will to myniece Abigail Wise.

I will my Negro man Paris unto my friend SamuelNeilson until the laws of the State will permit him to Emancipate thesaid Negro Paris at which time it is my will he should do so

And for the full performance of this my last willand testament I nominate and appoint my friend Samuel Neilson mywhole and sole Executor. I do hereby utterly disanul, revoke, anddisallow all other wills legacies bequeaths and executors by me inany wise made before, and, I do hereby declare this to be my lastwill and testament in witness whereof I thereunto set my hand andseal this 12th day of November in the year of our Lord one thousandeight hundred and twenty three
