State of South Carolina, Sumpter District In theName of God, Amen I Ann Chewning of the District & State aforesaid, Widow, beingweak in Body, but of a sound mind & memory; doth make this mylast Will and Testament, my Soul I commit to Almighty God who gaveit, by Body to be decently entered along side of my husband, mylawful debts all to be paid-In consideration of the love and Esteem,I have for my dear friend Louisa Singleton, Widow of James S.Singleton I give all my Negroes to Wit Sabina, Jim, Molley, affey,Billy, Rose, Mary, Elvina, Judy, Charles, James, Harrit, William,with their future Ifsue & increase to her the said LouisaSingleton & her heirs forever. I enjoin on the said Louisa to payto JARED N. CANTEY a legacy of One hundred dollars for many favoursbestowed- also to pay to Mifs MARY MILLER a legacy of fifty dollars,as a Mark of Esteem, lastly I do Constitute and appoint LOUISASINGLETON my sole Exectrix to this my last Will and Testament, herebyrevoking all others that have been made.Witnefs my hand and seal this fifteenth day of November One thousandeight hundred and thirty one.
