CHARLES DONEY

 

In the name of God Amen

 

I Charles Doney of Sumter District & state ofSouth Carolina, being of sound mind and understanding do make this mylast Will and Testament in manner & form following (to wit)

 

Item. I give and bequeath unto my sister NancyDoney during her natural life a negro man named Charles and one Bed& furniture and after her death to return to my Estate-----

 

Item. I Give to my Wife Susanna Doney during hernatural Life my Plantation whereon I now live and the followingnegroes (To wit) Enoch, Sam Anaky and her two children, said Negroesto be kept by my Executors on my Plantation and worked for thesupport of my wife-----

 

Item It is my wish and I hereby direct myExecutors hereinafter named to hire out each year my negroes namedTitus & Chloe for the benefit of my Grand Son Robert MatthewBrown till he arrives to the age of Twenty One Years-------

 

Item After the Death of my Wife it is my Will anddesire and I do hereby Give devise and bequeath my plantationaforesaid and Negroes willed to my said wife during Life, to my Grandabsolute & forever, and also the negroe Willed to my Sister aswell as the negroes to be hired during the minority of my Grand Sonand his heirs after his death my meaning is that after the death ofmy Wife and Sister all my Estate both Real & personal to go to mysaid Grandson and heirs forever including the increase of my Negroesand I hereby appoint John E. Brown and Samuel R. Chandler Executorsof this my last Will and Testament------
