Will of Jesse Gibbons

        

  In the name of God Amen. I Jefse Gibbons of Sumter District and State of South Carolina (Planter) Being weak in boddy but of sound mind memmory and understanding praised be God for the same, do make this my last Will and Testament, in manner and form following viz. It is my will and desire that all my just debts funeral expences and proving this my last will and testament be paid Item 1st  It is my will that Mrs Margaret Byrd shall have the liberty of living and working the lands whereon she now lives during her natural life and at her death to go to my wife Jane B. Gibbons during her life or widowhood and at her death or marriage to be sold and equally divided between my children. The balance of my Lands to be equally divided between my son’s viz.

Item 2. I give to my Son Patrick M Gibbons one fifth of my Lands i e 108 acres more or lefs Lying on horse branch called the Johnson Lands to him and his heirs forever.

Item 3. I give to my Son David K Gibbons one fifth of my Lands i e 108 acres more or lefs joining F M Gibbons, whereon he now lives to him and his heirs forever,

Item 4th I give to my son William H Gibbons one fifth of my Lands i e 108 acres more or lefs joining Wm Beards Lands called the Brown lands also. one horse called Rebel and one Cow and calf. to him and his heirs forever.

Item 5th I give to my Son Thomas G Gibbons one fifth of my lands i e 108 acres more or lefs joining Wm H Gibbons and Michael Gibbons Lands also one Cow and calf to him and his heirs forever.

Item 6th I give to my eon Jefse P Gibbons one fifth of my Lands ie 108 acres more or lefs the place whereon I now live  to him and his heirs forever, and I wish it understood that My wife

Jane is to have the liberty of living on this place during her natural life or widowhood and she is to get timber off the lands joining to keep up said plantation. Also one shot Gun and one Cow and calf to him and his heirs forever.

Item 8th I give to my daughter Margaret I Dubose one loom that is at Mrs Byrds to her and her heirs forever The loom not to be removed untill Mrs Byrds death.

Item 9th  I give to my daughter Eliza E Gibbons one bed and furniture and one cow and calf. to her and her heirs forever.

Item 10th I give to my daughter Julia E Gibbons one Bed and furniture and one cow & calf to her and her heirs forever. And I wish it understood that if their is not Cows & calves enough for

each as I have devised them. I wish my Executors herein named to sell some of my property not herein divised and purchase them. Also I wish my bay Mare to be put to the Horse by my Exor and raise two colts those colts to go to my two sons Thos. G and Jefse P Gibbons to them and their heirs forever.

Item 11th The balance of my estate I wish to remain on the plantation for the use of my Wife Jane and my youngest children and at her death or marriage to be sold and equally divided share and share alike between my children. Also I wish it particularly understood that if either of my children should die before they arrive to the age of 21 years leaving no lawful issue their part

so bequeathed shall revert back and be equally divided between my then surviving children.

Lastly. I do hereby appoint my Wife Jane B Gibbons and my two sons David K. and William H Gibbons Executrix and Executors to this my last will and testament.
