Will of Joel Green

        

  In the name of God Amen I Joel L. Green of the State of South Carolina and District of Sumter do make and ordain this my last Will and Testament in manner and form Towit, First. I give devise and bequeath unto Pinckney Green Benbow my Pine Land plantation and lands attached thereto‑‑‑All the house hold and Kitchen furniture at that place together with the following negroe slaves Sancho and Hannah to him and his heirs forever-----Second It is my Will, and my Executors herein after named are exprefsly enjoined and required to Keep and continue together all my remaining negroes Horses, Mules, Cattle, hogs, and sheep on the plantation whereon I now reside near Vances Ferry and to carry on the farm and planting operations as have been heretofore usually done by me, and to that end they shall employ an honest industrious man to superintend the planting interest, and to give the necessary attention to the stock, and after paying the necessary expences of the plantation such as overseer’s wages, clothing and shoes for the negroes, Taxes, Phycian’s bills and all other matters necessary for the support of the

plantation and to keep it in successful operation, then the remainder being the nett proceeds to be paid over to my daughter Elenora Rembert annually together with the interest accruing on all Notes Bonds and other choses in action during the term of her natural life

Third  At and after the death of my daughter Elenora Rembert I give devise and bequeath unto Pinckney Green Benbow my whole estate real and personal and every matter and thing pertaining to the same--And in consideration of this bequest made unto the said Pinckney G. Benbow he the said Pinckney G Benbow shall pay over to Moses I. Green of Alabama five thousand dollars either in money or property as they shall agree upon and in case the said Pinckney G. Benbow should die leaving no lawful child alive at his death: then and in that case I give devise and bequeath my whole estate both real and personal to W. Washington Benbow and Henry L. Benbow to be equally divided between them share and share alike in fee forever---      

Fourth. I nominate constitute and appoint my friends James M Nelson J. Henry Colclough Pinckney Pate and Pinckney Green Benbow Executors to this my last Will and Testament-- hereby revoking all and every will or wills heretofore made by me---
