Will of William Green

        

In the name of God, Amen, I William Green of Sumter District in the State of South Carolina, do make and constitute this my last Will and Testament & I do hereby revoke all others heretofore made, this 7th day of August A. D. 1846.‑--

First) I Give and bequeath unto my beloved Wife the sum of Four hundred Dollars to her and her heirs forever, I also Give to her Ex during her natural life or widowhood the following negroes, (To Wit) Howel a negroe man, & a woman named Binkey also the right and privilege to live in my house in common with the rest of my Family, and Fifty Acres of Land in the field adjoining the yard at the south end of the dwelling house lying North & South of the Field, also two Horses of the average value, two cows & Calves, two Sows & pigs, two Beds Bed$ clothes the use in common of the household & kitchen furniture also Ninety Dollars with which to purchase herself a riding chair and Harness, it is also my desire that she shall have the privilege of whatever fir wood she may need and Timber for the Plantation use during her natural life or widow hood--- What I have given my Wife in this bequest is in lieu of her dower, and immediately after her death or marriage, I give the above described property to my children share and share alike ---

Secondly) I Give and bequeath to my children, all the rest & residue of my Estate in whatever  it may consist to them share & share alike, and it is my will and desire that if any of my children die leaving no lawful issue, then the share of such child or children shall be divided among the survivers share and share alike.---

Thirdly) I nominate and appoint as Executors to this my last Will and Testament my two brothers, Henry D. Green, Francis Green and my Son John Thomas Green---
