WILL OF

JACOB JORDAN

 

 

In the name of God Amen, I Jacob Jordanof the state of South Carolina and district of Sumter, being low inbody but of perfect mind and memory and calling to mind that it isappointed unto all men to die. I do make this my last will andtestament in manner and form following.

 

First. I resign my spirit into the hands of Godwho gave it, and as regards this world's goods wherewith it haspleased God to bless me with, I give and devise in the followingmanner, after all my just debts is paid.

 

First I give and devise. Unto my beloved wifeLucy Jordan all the tract of land whereon I now live during hernatural life and should she die before my youngest son comes to theage of twenty one the said land to remain unsold until he does comeof age and then to be sold and equally divided between my four sonsWilliam J. Jordan, Jacob F. Jordan, Elias W. Jordan, Henry G. Jordanand my son Joseph T. Jordan's four children (viz) my son Joseph'sfour children to have one fifth equally divided between them.

 

Second I give and devise unto my son in law ThomasBarnes one tract of land whereon the mill stands to him and his heirsforever, nevertheless in trust however for the sole benefit of mydaughter Mary Barnes and all the heirs of her body during theirnatural lives.

 

Third I give and devise unto my son Jacob F.Jordan one roan mare, one cow & calf, and one sow &pigs.

 

Fourth I give and devise unto my son Elias W.Jordan one sorrel horse three years old, one cow and calf, and onesow and pigs.

 

Fifth I give and devise unto my son Henry G.Jordan one yearling colt, one speckled steer, one cow and calf, andone sow and pigs.

 

Sixth I give and devise unto my three sons, JacobF. Jordan, Elias W. Jordan, and Henry G. Jordan one bed and furnitureeach.

 

Seventh My will and desire is that all the stockand household furniture with every other thing not heretofore givenaway at the death of my wife and be sold and equally divided betweenmy three daughters, Mary Barnes, Elizabeth Truhit, and Eliza Pearceand I do hereby ordain, constitute and appoint my son William J.Jordan my Executor to this my last will and testament this April thefifth in the year of Our Lord one thousand eight hundred and fortyfive signed and acknowledged in presence of
