Will of George Laws

        

I George Laws of Claramont County, Sumter District in the State of South Carolina. Planter, being weak in body but of sound mind & memory for which blefsing I desire to be thankfull to Almighty God. I do make this my last will and testament as follows. to wit.

First  I give and devise to my Children (viz) William James Isaiah George Henry Jared & Robert John Nancy & David the following negroes to be equally divided at my death amongst them (viz Adam Cilla Nina Saby Adam the Younger Darcus Bina Ranger Sarah Centry Lazett Anna Tom & Jefse together with all my stock of Hogs Cattle Sheep &c also a Chest of drawers a rifle gun and three feather beds.

Secondly I do bequeath unto my eons John and David Laws during their Natural lives my plantation whereon I now live being formed of several adjoining tracts of land containing three hundred and eighty Acres as will appear by a plat annexed thereto and after their death I give and devise the said tract of land to their heirs during their Natural lives, and after their deaths their parts thereof to their Children forever

Thirdly I do give and bequeath unto my son David Laws the whole of my blacksmith tools together with a black horse Called Dick and two Cows and Calves.

Fourthly I do give and bequeath unto my sons John and David Laws the whole of my household furniture together with all my plantation tools.                                             

Fifthly I do bequeath unto my son John Laws two Cows and Calves.

Sixthly I do bequeath unto my daughter Nancy Brown for and during her natural life & negro woman named Hannah and her children, Viz Roze, Anthony & Bina with their future increase and from and after her death I give and devise the said negroes to her children during their natural lives and after their death to their Children forever.

I do also anex to my will that all the property both real and personal that has heretofore been divided or given off to my Children do remain to them as parts of their dividend of My Estate.

Lastly I do appoint my Sons Viz James Isaiah George & Henry Laws my Executors thereof in witness whereof I set my hand and Seal this 17th day of June in the Year of Our Lord, One thousand eight hundred and twenty six
