In the name of God, Amen, I Thomas G. McLeod ofState and District aforesaid, being in feeble health of body, but ofperfect mind and Memory, blefsed be God for the Same, And Calling toMind the Mortality of My body, And Knowing it is Appointed to all MenOnce to die, do Make and Ordain this my last Will and Testament,principally and first of all, I Resign my soul to God who gave it,And my Worldly Estate with which it has pleased him to blefs Me. Igive and bequeath in the following Manner, And first.

 

1st- I will and bequeath to My beloved children,and to the lawful Heirs of their bodies all My Negro property to beequally divided Between them, But should any of then die withoutissue It is My Will and desire that their portion return to theSurviving Brothers and Sisters-

 

 

2nd- It is My Will and desire That My belovedDaughter Mary Isabella, Now the wife of William H. Smith Have a NegroWoman Named Louisa, which she has now in possession, And Also a NegroWoman Named Sukey Which negro I intend immediately to put in Herpossession, And to take back a small negro girl now in her possefsionnamed Sophronia, These Two negroes vis Louisa and Sukey - I will anddesire shall be Considered As a part of her Legacy in the FinalDivision - I now appraise these Two negroes Myself at Nine HundredDollars That is four Hundred & fifty Dollars a piece.

 

 

3rd- I Will and bequeath to my beloved Sons,Adolphus A. McLeod, William J. McLeod and Benjamin F. McLeod, All MyLanded Estate except a Tract of about Seventy Acres, Land that I drewfrom My Fathers Estate. Which Tract of Seventy Acres I wish toremain untill Eight Dollars per acre can be obtained, At which timeIt is my Will and Desire it shall be sold and Divided equally Betweenall my children-

 

 

4th- It is my Will and desire, That My Three Sonsvis Adolphus A. McLeod, William J. McLeod and Benjamin F. McLeod,Each one of them, pay back to their Sisters Three Hundred Dollars-lend That a reasonable time be given to do it, so they May not berun to Costs.-

 

 

5th- I Will and bequeath to my beloved Daughters,Caroline, and Frances, My Barouche and Harnefs, And to my belovedDaughter Mary Isabella Smith for her part of the Barouche Fifty fiveDollars to be paid in her money-

6th- It is my Will And desire, That after thepayment of my Just and Lawful debts, Funeral expences, etc. ThatWhatever May be there remaining in Money; Bonds and Notes. AndWhatsoever else I may die pofsessed of. Be equally divided betweenall My children, and That without a Sale if possible.

 

 

7th- Furthermore I do hereby Constitute andappoint, My two Sons Adolphus A. McLeod and William J. McLeod MyExecutors to this my last will, and Testament, revoking And Annullingall former Wills, and Testaments,- In Witnefs Whereof I have Hereuntoaffixed my hand and seal- This Twenty Eight day of October in theyear of our Lord One Thousand Eight hundred and Forty Eight, And inthe Seventy third of American Independence.
