Will of William McKenzie

        

Know all men by these presents that I. William McKenzie of Sumter District in the State of South Carolina Farmer for and in Consideration of the love and affection which I bore unto my beloved Wife Margaret M. McKenzie and for the increase of her portion and also in Consideration of the sum of five dollars to me in hand paid by my said dear and beloved wife Margaret M. McKenzie at and before the sealing and delivery hereof, I do hereby acknowledge hath given Granted bargained and Sold and by these presents do give Grant bargain and sell unto my said beloved wife Margaret M. McKenzie all the property Real or Personal as follows two hundred acres of land more or less bounded as follows the uper line to run from the back or South along the old avenue to the North line on James Thomas lands down to the big ditch which runs acrofs the plantation it is the tract of land where I now live) Also another plantation or tract of land known as the Hewit land 280 acres bounded North by John F. McKnight’s land on the East, by the Estate lands of T. J. Hickson’s lands which land hath such shape and forms as a plat will more fully represent ) Also twelve head of Negroes named Betty, Amos, Elis, Julus, Henegan Edward Peggy Agnefs Levy Adaline and old Kenada Ned) Also four head of Horses Six Cows and Calves one Waggon and the Buggy and as much of the Crop as she needs) To have

and to hold all and singular the premises hereby Given and chanted unto my said Wife M. M.

McKenzie her Executors and Administrators and Afsigns forever as her and their own property to Come into her Posession after death if she out lives me.

Afsesment

                          Know all man by these presents that I William McKenzie of the State of South Carolina Sumter District. Have made Constituted and appointed and by these presents do made Constitute and appoint Myers Graham of Williamsburg District and William McKelister also of Williamsburg District as my lawful Trustees to the Property above Given to my beloved Wife Margret McKenzie to Manadge and Controle the said property to Best Interest and advantadge for her.

          Know all men by these presents that I William McKenzie of the State of South Carolina and of Sumter District (Farmer) For and In consideration of the love and affection which, I, bare unto my Grand son Alexandria J Hickson and for the Increase of his portion and also In Consideration of the sum of one dollar to me in hand paid by my said Grand son Alexandria J. Hickson at and before the sealing and delivery hereof, the Receipt whereof I do hereby acknowledge, hath Given Granted Bargained and Sold and by these presents do give grant bargain and Sell unto my said Grand Son Alexandria J. Hickson all the property Real or Personal as follows) three hundred acres of land more or less situated and lying on both sids of Burnt Branch bounded as follows North on Lewis Pigates land south by Thomas Caraways land West by the Estate land of J.W.J. Floyds land (dec.d) West by land given to Mary Moore in Sumter District) Also Five negroes namely Elec hagar Ben Caty hughy and one horse from among the Coalts one Cow and Calf, to have and to hold all and singular the premises hereby given and Granted unto the said Alexandria J, Hickson my Grandson his heirs Executors administrators

and Afsigns forever as his and there Own property, In Witness Whereof I have here unto set my hand and Seal this sixteenth day of July One thousand eight hundred and fifty three.

          The above mentioned property is the true intent and meaning of my gift and Grant to my Grandson Alexandria J. Hickson with this Proviso that Elizabeth Singeltary late widow of Thomas J. Hickson (dec.d) the Just sum for which she is indebted to the said heirs whereof I the said William McKenzie was there Security for the same that each heir shall pay out of the property that I have given him, his equal share.

          Know all men by these presents that I William McKenzie of said State and district above mentioned have made Constituted and Appointed and by these presents do make Constitute and Appoint Wyet J. Nettles of Williamsburg District and J Andrew J. Byrd of Sumter District as my and Alexandria J Hicksons lawful. Trustees to transact and manage the above named property to his best Interest, after my death, the property to Remain in my posesion.

          Know all men by these Presents, that I. William McKenzie of the State of South Carolina and of Sumter district Farmer for, and in Consideration of the love and affection, which I bear unto my Grandson Henry J Hickson and for the increase of his portion and also in Consideration of the sum of one dollar to me in hand paid by my said Grandson Henry J. Hickson at and before the sealing and delivery hereof, the receipt whereof I do hereby acknowledge, hath given, granted, bargained and sold, and by these presents do give, grant, bargain and sell unto my said Grandson Henry I. Hickson all the property real or personal as follows also three negroes namely

Pinkney, Lisum and Will also one horse from among the Coalts and one Cow and Calf. To Have and To Hold all and singular the premisses hereby given and granted unto the said Henry J. Hickson my GrandSon his heirs, Executors, administrators and afsigns forever as his and their own property.

          In Witnefs whereof I have hereunto set my hand and Seal, this Sixteenth day of July in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and fifty three.

          The above described property is the true intent and meaning of my Gift and Grant to my Grand Son Henry J. Hickson with this proviso, that if Elizabeth Singletary late widow of Thomas J. Hickson dec.d shall fail to pay over to the heirs of T.J. Hlckson dec.d the just sum of for which she is indebted to the Bald heirs, wherefore I the said William McKenzie was their Security for the same that each heir shall pay out of the property that I have given him his equal share.

Neetles of Williamsburg district and Andrew J. Byrd of Sumter district as my and Henry J. Hickson my Grand Son lawful Trustee to transact and manage the above named property to his best interest after my death, the property to remain in my possession until after my dec.d

          Know all men by these that, I William McKenzie of the State of South Carolina and of Sumter District, Farner for and in consideration of the love and affection which I have unto my GrandSon William S. Hickson and for the Increase of his portion and also in Consideration of the sum of one dollar to me in hand paid by my said Grand Son William L. Hickson at and before the sealing and delivery hereof, the receipt whereof I do hereby acknowledge hath given, Granted, Bargained and Sold and by these presents do Give Grant Bargain and Sell unto my said Grand Son W. L. Hickson all the property Real or personal as follows, One thousand Acres of

land more or lefs lying below my Big ditch on Big Kingstree and little Kingstree swamps In Sumter and Williamsburg Districts, the boundries are as follows North by James McKenzie, land So. Ea. on Mary Cook, lands West on lands belonging to the Estate of T. J. Hickson (deceased) East by Isac Parkins lands, Another tract of land One hundred Acres more or less Known as the Caraway land lying on the East side of lynches Creek in Sumter District bounded on the East by land, Known as the hays land hath such shapes and form as a plat will more fuly show, Also another tract or plantation of land one hundred acres more or less lying in Sumter District Known as the James Gowdy land bounded as follows on the North by A.H. Thompson land on the South by John Graham land on the East by Mrs. Gowdy land hath such shapes and forms as, a plat doth represent, Also one horse from among the Coalts one Cow and Calf, Also Five head of Negroe s namely Ned teaner John Rhufus Julian to have and to hold all and Singular the premises hereby Given and Granted unto the said William L. Hickson my Grand Son his heirs Executors Administrators and Afsigns forever as his and their property. In Witnefs whereof I have here unto set my band and Seal this Sixteenth day of July one thousand eight hundred and fifty three.

          The above wrighting is the true intent of my Gift and Grant to my GrandSon William L. Hickson (Proviso) that if Elizabeth Singletary Late Widow of Thomas  J. McKenzie and also my Grand Children namely William L. llickson, Thomas P. Hickson Henry J. Hickson and Alexandria J Hickson and for the Increase of their portion and also In consideration of the sum of one dollar apeace to me in hand paid by my said wife M. M. McKenzie and my Grand Children Wm L. Hickson, T. P. Hickson H. J. Hickson and A. J. Hickson at and before the sealing and delivery hereof, the Receipt Whereof I do hereby acknowledge hath Given Granted Bargained and Sold and by these Presents

do Give Grant Bargain and Sell unto my said Wife M. M. McKenzie and my Grand Children

W. L. Hickson T. P. Hickson H. J. Hickson and A. J. Hickson all the property Real or personal as Follows) The Balance of my horses Cattle Hogs and soforth, and plantation Concerns and the Remainder of the Crop) After my death the above Named property to be sold and devided among my said heirs M. M. McKenzie my wife and my said Grand Children W. L. Hickson, T. P. Hickson H. J. Hickson and A. J. Hickson, To be devided as follows, To pay out of the above named property, as follows To pay all my Just debts and. all expenses and pay forty dollars to the Saints John Church where I belong and the rest to be divided as follows, one half to my wife Margaret M. McKenzie and also half of the other hail to my Grand Son W. L. Hickson and the Remainder to be equally divided between my other three Grand Sons T.P. Hickson H. J. Hickson

and A. J. Hickson, to have and to hold singular the property hereby given and Granted unto the said heirs my Wife M. M. Hickson and my Grand Sons Wm L. Hickson, T.P. Hickson H. J. Hickson A. J. Hickson their heirs Executors Administrators and Afsigns forever as their and their heirs property)

          In witnefs I have here unto set my hand and Seal this sixteenth day of July one thousand eight hundred and fifty three.

          Know all men by these presents that I William McKenzie of said State and district above mentioned have made Constituted and appointed and by these presents Do make Constitute and Appoint Lewis Pigate of Sumter district as my and their Lawful Trustee to Transact and manage, and sell, and Receive, and pay out and demand and Give to each of my above named heirs, the portion above named and described) After my death, the property to Remain in my pofession until after my ( deceased).
