Will of John H. Rutledge

I John H Rutledge of the State & District aforesaid, do make and ordain this my 1ast Will and Testament---

   I give and bequeath unto my Brother Francis H Rutledge, Thirty Shares (30) of the Bank of Charleston, valued at Three Thousand Dollars ($3000.) also the following Slaves. Viz: Hercules, Bessy, Isaac, Violet, Nanny, Hannah, Beck, Martha and Peter; being Nine (9) in number, with the future ifsue and increase of the females  Also all other property Real and personal that I may possess at my death, to him & his heirs forever---       

   Lastly, I appoint my esteemed friends and brothers Alfred Huger , and Francis H Rutledge Executors of this my last Will & Testament.

In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and Seal this Thirty first day of July in the Year of Our Lord Eighteen hundred & forty four, and of the Independence of the United States of America
