WILL OF MARGARET SEVERANCE

 

State of South Carolina)

Sumter District            )        In the name of God Amen -

 

I, Margaret Severance of the District and State aforesaid being Sound in mind and Calling to mind that it is appointed for all men to die do after commending my soul to him who gave it declare this to be my last will and Testament -

 

          In the first place I desire my body to be buried in a decent christian like manner, and all my Just debts paid -

 

          My worldly Estate I dispose of as follows (to wit)

 

Item 1st.  My will and desire is for my property that I may be pofsefsed with at the time of my death. to be Sold, and the proceeds arising there from to be disposed with as I Shall hereafter direct -

 

Item 2nd.  I give and bequeath to my grand Son William Rogers Dixon One hundred dollars, ( and for my Executors to keep it at Interest till he arrives to the age of Twenty one years) to him and his heirs forever -

 

Item 3rd.  I give and bequeath to my grand Son Rufus Orlander Dixon One hundred dollars (and for my Executors to keep it at Interest till he arrives to the age of Twenty one years) to him and his heirs forever -

 

Item 4th  I will and derect for the ballance of my Estate after the payment of my Just debts to be Equally divided between my five following named Children Viz. William Z. Dixon, Benjamin S. Bell, Margaret Sueza Huggins, Ezekiel Dixon Bell and Hugh McCallam Bell for them to Share and Share alike.

 

Item 5th.  My will and desire is for my daughter Margaret Sueza Huggins to have all the Clothes that I may leave at the time of my death -

 

Item 6th.  I hereby nominate constitute and appoint my son John H. Dixon and my friend J. J. Stuckey Executors to this my last will and testament - In witnefs whereof I have hereunto Set my hand and seal this the Sixth day of January 1849 -

 

Signed published and delivered by the Said Margaret Severance to be her last will and testament, in the presence of us who have hereunto Subscribed our names as witnefses in the presence of the testator and of Each other
