WILL OF JOHN N SPANN

 

 

State of South Carolina--

 

Know all men by these presents, that I John NSpann of Sumter District and State aforesaid do make & ordainthis my last Will &Testament--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

 

I devise & bequeath to my Mother ElizabethSpann after my death, the whole of my Estate real & personal, forand during the term of her natural life, as well as all my household& Kitchen furniture-------------------

 

At the death of my mother Elizabeth Spann then Igive & bequeath my negro Servant Jacob, to my Sisters Sarah SSpann & Martha E Spann to their sole use and benefitforever---------------------------------------------

 

And at the death of my Mother aforesaid, I giveand bequeath all my tract of Land, or section of land (no.2) thatfell to my lot at the Division of my Fathers Estate, FrediricSpann--lying on the heads of Boghead and Ammon's Branch, containing,one hundred & Sixty five acres --to my brother William R Spann tohim & his Heirsforever-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

 

I appoint William R Spann & Richard R Spann mytrue and lawful Executors, to this my last Will &Testament---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

 

In witness whereof I hereunto set my hand &seal this day of January in the year of our lord onethousand eight hundred and thirty eight (1838) and the AmericanIndependence the sixty second year--------
