Will of Joseph West

In the name of God Amen I, Joseph West of the State and District aforesaid, being weak of body, but of Sound mind and memory, do make this my last will and Testament in the manner and form as follows, First of all I commend my soul to Almighty God who gave it me and after my decease I wish my body to be buried in a christian like manner--    

And after my just debts are paid, then what Estate it has pleas’d Almighty God to blefs me with in this life I wish to be disposed of in the following manner.--           

First I will and bequeath unto my daughter Rebecca Tisdale the sum of five dollars

Secondly I will and bequeath unto my daughter Elizabeth Pardue Five Dollars

3d I will and bequeath unto the children of my son Joseph C West dec.d The sum of Five dollars each-.

4th I will and bequeath unto my two grand daughters viz Ellen Tisdale and Nancy Dyson‑‑ children of my Son Benjamin West deceas’d Five dollars each

5th I will and bequeath unto my grand son Joseph W West-son of my son Benjamin West deceased all my negroes, Horses, cattle, Hogs Sheep, Household and Kitchen furniture, Plantation tolls, Crop and Money if any.‑‑‑In a word all my whole Estate that is not given off or mentioned above--and in case the said Joseph W West should die leaving no child or children then in that case it is my will and desire that the Estate thus will’d and bequeathed unto the said

Joseph W West shall be equally divided between his two Sisters Ellen Tisdale and Nancy Dyson or their Heirs

6th And last of all I do hereby appoint and Nominate my grand son Joseph W West my Executor to this my last Will and Testament hereby revoking all other wills by me made In Witnefs whereof I hereunto set my hand and Seal this 8th day of April in the year of Our Lord one thousand Eight hundred and forty Seven And in the Seventy first year of the Independence of the United States of America
