WILL OF ROGER WILSON

In the name of God, Amen. I, Roger Wilson , of the State and District aforesaid, being not in a very good state of health of body, but of perfect sound mind and memory [blessed be God for the same] calling to mind my mortality, and knowing that it is appointed for all men once to die, do make, and ordain this my last will, and testament. Principally, and first of all, I resign my soul to God who gave it, and my body to the dust to be buried in a Christian like manner by my Executors, as touching such worldly Estate, as it has pleased God to bless me with, I give, and bequeath in the following manner.

Item 1st, I give and bequeath to my following children [Viz] Thomas Wilson, Robert Wilson, Mary Reece, William Wilson, Josiah Wilson, Samuel Wilson, Margaret Bradley, Harriet Williams, and Lily M Williams one dollar each, in addition to what they have already received of my estate.

Item 2nd, I give and bequeath to my daughter, Susannah Dickson, a Negro Woman and named Lydiah, and her daughter named Dinah, to her and her issue forever.

Item 3rd, I give and bequeath to my son, John S. Wilson, one Negro named Ceasor, one Negro man named Abram, and one Negro lad named Jacob, together with two feather beds and one set of bed furniture, also one cow and calf, and that part of all my wearing apparel, that may fit him, as his full part of my Estate.

Item 4th, I give and bequeath to my grandson, Roger Wilson Reese, one Negro man named Centry, to him and his lawful heirs forever.

Item 5th, I give and bequeath to my grandson, Peter Alexander Boyd Williams, one Negro boy named Simon, and his lawful issue forever, provided, however, the above named Peter A. B. Williams should die before he arrives to the age of twenty one years, or leaving lawful issue, then, in that case, the above named boy Simon is to revert back to his oldest surviving brother, or sister.

Item 6th, I give and bequeath to my grandson, David Wilson Witherspoon, one Negro boy named Joe, to him and his lawful issue forever provided, however, if the above named David W Witherspoon should die before he arrives to the age of twenty one years, then, in that case, the above named boy Joe, is to go to his next oldest surviving brother or sister.

Item 7th, It is my will and desire at my deceased, that the within named Centry, be delivered to my grandson, Robert W Reese, as soon as he may call for him.

Item 8th, I, moreover, will and request, that the two Negro boys, named Simon and Joe, left to my grandson, Peter A. B. Williams and David W. Witherspoon, remain in the care of my son, Peter F. Wilson, until the above named Peter A. B. Williams and David W. Witherspoon arrives to the age of twelve years, provided however, if my son, Peter F. Wilson, should leave the State, then the above boys Simon and Joe, are to be left in trust of Absolum Wilson for the above purpose.

Item 9th, I will and bequeath that all my just debts be paid, that the legacies within, and above mentioned to whom they are bequeathed, be delivered agreeable to the above instructions, and lastly, I will and bequeath to my son, Peter F. Wilson, all the rest of my Estate, both real and personal, to him, and his heirs forever. And I do hereby nominate, constitute, and appoint my son, Peter F. Wilson and Absolum Wilson, my lawful Executors, to this my last will and testament. Revoking and disannulling any former will or wills ratifying and confirming this and this alone to be my last will and testament.

In witness whereof, I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 28th day of July, in the year of our Lord, One thousand, eight hundred and twenty one. Signed, Sealed, Published, and Delivered in the presence of
