Last Will and Testament of James Addison Boykin

 

In the name of God Amen, I Aderson J. Boykin of the County of Sumter and State of South Carolina being of sound mind and memory blessed be almighty God, for the same do make an publish this my last Will and Testament, I give and bequeath to my son John William Joshua at my decease all the Land on the South side of public road leading to Camden, to have and to hold his life time and at his Death to go to his heirs and also the tract of Land that the Widow Jessie Boykin now has her life time interest in.

 

I also will and bequeath to my son Aderson Davis that piece of Land on side of public road leading to Camden bounded on the West by Lands known as F.B. McCaskill, as far North as the Shack Boyd clearing known as the Shack Boyd place and as far down the public road as my son John William strikes the road, and a straight line to be run due north to the Shack Boyd place to have and to hold as long as he may live and at his death to go to his heirs, should he or John William die without heirs their property shall revert back to the other or the case might be.

 

I also Will and bequeath to my Dear Wife Sarah Elizabeth the eighty acres on which I now reside and the fifty acres known as the J.F. Boykin tract to have and to hold her life time and at her death to belong to my youngest son Leonard Charlton to have and hold as long as he may live and at his death to go to his heirs, should he die without heirs it is to be divided with the other heirs Mary Ada, Ida Olivia, Ada Coke, Henry Carrison, Lilly May.

 

And all my other lands to be equally divided between Mary Ada, Ida Olivia, Ada Coke, Henry Carrison, Lillie May, as they become of age or marry, to be valued by three disinterested men. 

 

Except the Driggers place I will and bequeath it to my dear Wife Sarah Elizabeth to dispose of as she may desire proper and I request that my wife remain in possession of all my Lands until the children become of age or marry to use the proceeds of said Lands for the Special benefit of said children.  Except John William and Adderson Davis.  I also will that my wife keep two mules namely Beck and Mag, also one two horse wagon, one buggy, and one milk cow, I also will that all the rest of my stock except hogs be sold at private sale, also steam engine gin and mills, grist and saw.  After this property is sold I will that John William Joshua and Aderson Davis be paid fifty dollars each in cash.  Balance accruing from said sales to be deposited in Bank to remain on Interest until the other children become of age or marry to wit.  Mary Ada, Ida Olivia, Ada Coke, Henry Carrison, Lillie May and Leonard Charlton.  I also will that the mortgage that I hold against H.L. Boykin that my Wife collect and use as she sees fit to do so.  I also will and bequeath my Insurance Policy of two thousand dollars be deposited in the Bank and as my children become of age that each one draw two hundred dollars with interest except Henry Carrison who on becoming of age shall draw Six hundred dollars with interest.  I also will and request that my Wife take the present crops and collect all rents that my be made and allotted this present year and pay all expenses with same.

 

I do nominate and appoint my beloved Wife Sarah Elizabeth to be sole Executrix of this my last Will and Testament. In witness thereof I set my hand and seal and publish and devise this to be my last Will and Testament and in the presence of the witnesses this sixteenth day of February in the year of our Lord One thousand Eight hundred and Ninety five.
