Last Will and Testament of Jesse L. Yates

 

 

            In the name of God Amen.  I Jesse Lazarus Yates of the State of South Carolina, Sumter County being of sound mind and memory and concerning the uncertainty of this frail and transitory by therefore declare make ordain publish and declare this to be my last Will and Testament.  That is to say I commit my Soul to almighty God; who gave it to my body to the ground.

 

After all my funeral expenses and all my lawful debts are fully paid and discharged, the residue of my Estate, real and personal I give and bequeath to my beloved wife Harriett.  I give and bequeath all my Estate real and personal to have and to hold during her natural life, and at her death I give and bequeath to my youngest daughter Soprano, one fourth ……….of my land in no access to be situated and includes my ………and settlement, also all my household and Kitchen furniture.  To my other three children I give and bequeath to them the balance of my Estate, share and share alike equally that any of them be living.  If they be deceased their share will go to the heirs of their body that may then be living.

 

In witness hereof I have hereunto subscribed my name and affixed my seal the twentieth day of September in the year of our Lord one Thousand Eight Hundred and Seventy …….and I nominate Thomas McLeod my Executor.
