After both parents had died, Ida moved to her own farm - remaining there until her health failed, and then making her with her sister, Katherine (Kasner) Engelholm until she moved into a rest in Rosebud. Ida was a very efficient babysitter for all her nieces and nephews, to whom she was known as "Tanta Ide."

Katherine Kasner, b March 1, 1909 in Rosebud- married November 11,1931 to ArthurJ. Engelholm.

Albert Rudolph Kasner came to Texas in 1880, settling first in Welcome, Austin County - and relocating in Barclay, Falls County about 1885.

Lena M. (Pieper) Kasner came to Falls County in 1880 with her parents, who also settled in Barclay. Albert and Lena farmed in Barclay on the Pieper farm for three years, and in 1890 purchased 425 1/2 acres of land seven miles northwest of Rosebud - paying $5,000.00 for the acreage. The land had to be cleared, and they built their and rent houses - buying an additional 325 1/2 acres for $11,000.00 in 1902, on which the homes had already been built and the land cleared. Albert was a farmer by profession, but also he was a carpenter and a blacksmith. In 1906 or 1907, Albert and Lena bought a on North Military Street in Rosebud, and Albert and his brother, Bernhard Gus Kasner, bought and operated a cotton gin in Rosebud on the corner of North Main and Fifth Street (where the Texaco Gas Station is presently located in 1985). After operating the gin several years, they sold it to a Mr. Wells of Rosebud, and Albert and Lena Kasner returned to their farm. In 1908, Albert bought a steam engine for thrashing, corn grinding, and sawing wood. It had to be moved from place to place for four miles; and in 1912, he traded it for a new self-propelling steam tractor which was used until 1918, and then replaced by a gasoline tractor.

In the early 1890's, the people who lived in the Kasner Community built a one-room school on the southwest corner of the Kasner farm, and it was called the Kasner School. Another school was built in 1910 just across from the Kasner on the Charlie Hinkle farm; but in 1917, the Kasner School consolidated with the Sneed School and moved a mile west-being known as the "Sneed-Kasner School." In 1921, a new three-room school was built and later expanded to a four-room, or "four teacher" school, and the Sneed-Kasner School became the Hilltop School. This school consolidated with the Rosebud Independent School District, and the old school building was sold to the American Legion Post of Rosebud, and moved to the Rosbud City Park.
