Alto Springs Cemetery

Alto Springs, Texas
Alto Springs Cemetery, Falls County, Texas GPS Coordinates 31.289412, -96.674919

Alto Springs Cemetery is actually quite a ways from the road, way back in the middle of private land around FM 2745 and FM 413. This area of land is completely fenced and thick with trees and brush. Some tombstones are almost completely covered over and the weeds are 4 foot high in most areas Joseph Byrd and Tabitha (Massengale) Rogers [see bio] came to Falls County, Texas after 1855, where he purchased 2,000 acres of land in the Sarah Pillow Survey. It was here that he built his log cabin, and donated land for the Alto Springs Cemetery. His broken tombstone indicates that he was a Methodist, and a Mason.
