Sherman, Tex., April 8 - A refreshing shower fell all over the county last night and this morning.

A committee of the directors of the City bank will go to Van Alstyne in the morning to look for a suitable location for a branch of that institution. The City bank has a branch at Whitesboro.

J. W. Fulsom and John Harkins, the participants in the Atoka tragedy, are both well known in Sherman.

The Grayson county alliance convenes in this city tomorrow morning at 10 a.m.

Saturday night Burt Clark and Alderman Benton had a little physical encounter on east Lamar street.  This morning Clark pleaded guilty
to an assault and filed a complaint against Benton for carrying a pistol.  The trial will no doubt develop whether an alderman, under the ordinances of Sherman as an ex-officio policeman, has a right to carry a pistol.

John Nicholson, colored, is alleged to have given his wife a thrashing this morning and now repines in the county jail.

The mayor and six new aldermen will be sworn into office Monday night.

The bobtailed train between Sherman and Paris is doing a fine passenger traffic, and is a paying investment to the road apparently.
