Akers, son of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Akers, Sr., 211 West Hull, is serving with Flag Allowance of Commander-Cruiser-Destroyer Force, United States Pacific Fleet. Akers is a journalist, 3rd class, USN, and his duties as a journalist consist of news writing, radio script writing, radio interviews and some phases of practical photography. Akers is a graduate of the Denison high school and attended the University of Missouri for 2 years. He enlisted in the Navy and served 1 year on the island of Guam.
