Mr. Robert Wilkerson Macon

Robert Wilkerson Macon, aged 83 years, passed from this life at 6:25 A. M. on January 25, 1950, at the home of his son, W. D. Macon of Baytown, Texas. Mr. Macon, whose home was in Comanche, but who had spent the most of the past year or so with his children because of illness, was born on May 28, 1866, in Elmo County, Alabama. He was united in marriage to Miss Elizabeth Boatright on October 20, 1887, who preceded him in death on January 27, 1930. To this union were born eight children, of which six are now living.

He joined the Methodist Church at an early age and was a faithful member and active worker as long as he was able. When he was not able to go any more, he spent the most of his time reading the Bible. He was a faithful husband, a fond-loving father, who devoted his time and energy to his family; and a good neighbor who numbered his friends by his acquaintances. He was married again in November, 1936, to Mrs. Eula Wilson.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Eula Macon; three sons, W. D. of Baytown, J. G. of Rosenberg, and J. L. of Dayton; three daughters, Mrs. J. E. Daniels of Houston, Mrs. F. L. Harrison of Comanche, and Mrs. M. L. Walker of Ganado; nineteen grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild; a number of nieces and nephews and a host of friends.

Funeral services were held at the Comanche Funeral Home in Comanche, Texas. Interment was in the Sardis Cemetery. Pall bearers were Robert Harrison, Wesley Macon, Alton Macon, Willie Glenn Macon, Joe Daniels and Marion Macon, all grandsons of the deceased.
