Leta Walton
Ashby Anglings

On last Tuesday, regardless of the attention of skilled physicians, Leta, the infant daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. L. Walton, closed her eyes in death. The little body was laid to rest in the Ashby Cemetery, mid many sympathizing friends. May God comfort the parents.

Matagorda County Tribune, October 19, 1900

"Our Darling's Gone."

Little Letta Walton, daughter of W. L. and Jessie Walton, departed this life Oct. 9th, 1900; three years old less 41 days. Her stay with us, Oh how brief, yet joyous and sweet.

Three swift years, her presence given,
To brighten and cheer our earthly Eden;

But she's called to a mission above
To that mansion of joy and love.

Oft' we've thought of our home above,
But now we'll think of it more and more;

For our Letta's gone on before,
Waiting for us, on the other shore.

Darling, the Lord, has thought it best
To take you, and give you rest.

The glorious meeting that will be.
