Mrs. Donna Logan and son, John, were in Victoria Saturday.

Mr. and Mrs. Fred Rickaway and James Rickaway spent the week-end with friends in Hallettsville.

Mr. B. B. Rhodes of San Antonio came home for the week-end.

Mr. and Mrs. A. E. Schulte spent several day of last week in Clemville with Mr. and Mrs. Harry Cowger.

Mr. and Mrs. Abner Ussery made a business trip to Luling last Thursday.

Mrs. W. A. Sanford and Mrs. Lance Williams and Ronnie were in El Campo Saturday afternoon.

Mr. and Mrs. Russell Matthes entertained Monday night with a steak Barbecue. After supper the guests enjoyed playing Canasta. Those attending were Mr. and Mrs. Bert Logan and Mr. and Mrs. Lee Pierce.

Mr. and Mrs. David King of Houston were Sunday guests of Mr. and Mrs. Pete Hamelink.

The County Federation of Women’s Clubs had their quarterly meeting at the Blessing Community House Saturday, January 14.

The guest speaker was Mrs. Alfred Proebstle of Brazoria. Lunch was served at Hotel Blessing

Mr. and Mrs. A. J. Svadlenak and son, James, have moved to Kansas City, Missouri, where Mr. Svadlenak will attend Plumber’s Trade School.

Mr. and Mrs. C. D. Salley and children were Sunday dinner guests of Mrs. Modie Salley in Clemville.

Mrs. A. E. Schulte, Mrs. A. M. Logan, Mrs. Abner Ussery, and Miss Mary Manley, were shopping in El Campo Monday.

Mr. and Mrs. M. D. Baggett are attending the Hardware Convention held at the Shamrock in Houston this week. They will also visit with Mr. and Mrs. M. O. Maxwell.

Mr. and Mrs. W. G. Thurber of Seekonk, Mass., and Mr. Bernard J. Flanagan of San Antonio are visiting with the W. O. Selkirks this week.

Mr. Arthur Foster attended a scouter’s meeting in Bay City Monday night.

Mr. and Mrs. G. K. Heck and Sara Dee spent the week-end in Giddings, Mr. Heck’s father returning home with them for a visit.

Lcdr. and Mrs. T. W. Rhodes and children left Sunday for New Orleans, La., after a month’s visit with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. R. H. Rhodes.

Mrs. Judd of Hallettsville is visiting with Mr. and Mrs. Robert Rickaway.

Mr. W. A. Sanford is doing nicely after a major eye operation at the Rugeley-Blasingame Clinic in Wharton.

Mr. M. T. Flanagan of Longview stopped in Monday for a short visit with his sister and husband, Mr. and Mrs. W. O. Selkirk.

Mr. and Mrs. Fritz Baumann are the proud parents of a daughter born at the Nightingale Hospital in El Campo.

Mr. and Mrs. Lindsey Rickaway and son Ronald visited with Mr. and Mrs. J. C. White in Palacios Sunday. They also stopped in to visit with the William Harris family in La Ward.

A Mexican Supper sponsored by the St. Peter’s Altar Society of Blessing Sunday, February 12, at the Blessing Community Hall. Bingo and other entertainments during the evening. Everybody invited.

Mrs. A. E. Schulte, Mrs. Mary Brod, and Mrs. Arthur Foster were shopping in Bay City Friday afternoon.

Mr. and Mrs. W. A. Sanford and Mrs. Robert Rickaway and son, Gene, made a trip to Wharton Friday.

Mr. and Mrs. A. M. Logan and Mr. and Mrs. A. E. Schulte enjoyed a turkey dinner with the Harry Cowgers in Clemville Monday night.

Attending the Sam Houston Area Council Annual Banquet Monday night at the Rice Hotel in Houston were Rev. Bily and Arthur Foster.

Mrs. Elizabeth Dawdy spent Sunday afternoon with her sister, Mrs. J. E. Dawdy in Markham.

Mr. and Mrs. Jimmie Douglas and children of El Campo were Sunday dinner guests of Jr. and Mrs. C. D. Salley.

Mr. and Mrs. Carl Spain and children of San Antonio spent the week-end with Mr. and Mrs. Willis Epperson and daughters.

Miss Mary Manley spent the week-end with Mrs. Durbella and family in Port Lavaca.

Mr. and Mrs. Harry Cowger, Patsy, and James Nelson of Clemville, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Foster and Sonny, and Mr. and Mrs. A. M. Logan enjoyed a Mexican supper with the A. E. Schulte’s last Thursday night.

The American Liberty Oil Co. employees had an oyster supper at the Blessing Community House last Friday night. After supper games of “42” and canasta were enjoyed by all.

Mrs. Melvin Lee is doing nicely after a major operation at the Matagorda General Hospital.

Mr. and Mrs. Jim Tobola are the proud parents of a son, born April 13th at the Matagorda General Hospital in Bay City.

Arthur Foster attended the Jamboree training camp at Camp Hudson Friday night and Saturday.

Mr. and Mrs. Robert Thomas spent a few weeks of last week with his sister, Mr. and Mrs. Louis Marcaurele in Bay City.

Visitors in the Joe Nicholson home Saturday night and Sunday were Mr. and Mrs. Frank Dowdell and sons, Don and Joe, and Mr. Steve Young, all of Houston.

Miss Julie Vaclavick has returned to San Antonio after a week’s visit with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. R. J. Vaclavick.

A miscellaneous shower was given Sunday afternoon at the Blessing Community House honoring Miss Wilma Swinky. The bride elect received many beautiful gifts. Delicious refreshments were served.

Hostesses were Mesdames Edward Swinky, Edwin Hurta, Henry Knebel and Tom McKissick.

A miscellaneous shower was given at the Blessing Community House Tuesday night, honoring Mrs. Charles Mikus, the former Miss Edna Day, the bride received many useful and lovely gifts.

Refreshments of cake, chicken sandwiches, and punch were served. The hostesses were Mesdames Abner Ussery, John Ackerman, L.P. Neuszer, Bob Ackerman, Ed Baros, Herman Powell, A. E. Schulte, and A. R. Matthes.

The community was saddened Friday night by the sudden death of A. C. Thomas. We extend our sympathy to the bereaved family.
